[name]Just[/name] found out we are expecting and aren’t due till [name]November[/name]. We have no idea obviously of the gender at this point, but if we have a boy we will probably be naming him [name]Bruce[/name], after my husband’s father who died when he was 17. I love [name]Bruce[/name] (except that it bugs me that it doesn’t really mean anything). To me it is vintage, ultra-masculine and strong. It reminds me of [name]Bruce[/name] [name]Wayne[/name], [name]Bruce[/name] [name]Willis[/name], and [name]Bruce[/name] [name]Lee[/name].
My 2 year old is [name]Ramona[/name] (goes by [name]Roma[/name] and mo-mo) and her middle is [name]Mae[/name] and our last name is 2 syllables and starts with C, so nothing ending in a hard C will work in the middle.
I prefer 3 or more syllables and I really want something unique and special that has possible use as a primary name or nickname possibilities in case in the future he wants to go by something other than [name]Bruce[/name] (since it is nicknameless).
I like biblical names or names with a [name]Christian[/name]/spiritual meaning. DH hates word names and virtue names.
So far my only ideas are
[name]Bruce[/name] [name]Matthias[/name]
[name]Bruce[/name] [name]Amadeus[/name] (DH doesn’t love)
[name]Bruce[/name] Cunningham (my mom’s maiden name for the middle but not really any options for using as a primary)
[name]Bruce[/name] [name]Zebulon[/name]
[name]Bruce[/name] [name]Augustine[/name]
[name]Bruce[/name] [name]Lucien[/name] (love [name]Lucien[/name]/[name]Lucius[/name] but this is too many ooos? also do people say this with 2 or 3 syllables?)
Our heritage is Romanian, [name]German[/name], Scotch and Irish.
Thanks!
Of those I like [name]Bruce[/name] [name]Josiah[/name] the best, it flows well with our last name
[name]Bruce[/name] [name]Lazarus[/name] is cool too
I’m sort of floored right now, lol–[name]Bruce[/name] Cunningham is my uncle’s full name! My aunt calls him Bru–I think that’s kind of fun, along the lines of Reu/Roo that’s semi-common for [name]Reuben[/name], [name]Ruby[/name], [name]Ruth[/name], etc., and it has that same sort of smart image that [name]Brewster[/name]/Brew has.
From the rest of your list, I like [name]Bruce[/name] [name]Lucien[/name] (although the “oo” sounds are pretty repetitive), and [name]Bruce[/name] [name]Matthias[/name]. I quite love [name]Bruce[/name] [name]Amadeus[/name] ([name]LOVE[/name] [name]Amadeus[/name]!), but if your husband won’t go for it, I think [name]Bruce[/name] [name]Matthias[/name] is a lovely alternative.
I love the pp’s suggestions of [name]Asher[/name] and [name]Josiah[/name], as well.
What about [name]Bruce[/name] [name]Nathaniel[/name]? I quite love the Biblical [name]Nathaniel[/name]/[name]Nathanael[/name] with [name]Bruce[/name], and the nns [name]Nate[/name]/[name]Nathan[/name]/[name]Niall[/name]/[name]Neil[/name] are fun.
Thanks ash! I was thinking of [name]Nathaniel[/name] as well. It has lots of nicknames which is nice. I feel like it is getting popular, I know several nathaniels, but I am not sure how important that is in a middle.
I completely [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Ashley[/name]'s suggestion of [name]Bruce[/name] [name]Nathaniel[/name]. It’s perfect! (I’ve never met a [name]Nathaniel[/name].)
[name]Bruce[/name] is my husband’s middle name. As teenagers, my twin sister and I decided our first sons would have our husbands’ middle names, so [name]Bruce[/name] would have been my first son’s middle name except my husband said he preferred to use his father’s middle name, [name]Glen[/name], instead. I get a little wistful when I see the name [name]Bruce[/name] being used.
I like [name]Bruce[/name] [name]Matthias[/name] and [name]Bruce[/name] [name]Augustine[/name], but would nix [name]Bruce[/name] [name]Lucien[/name]. In my opinion, [name]Bruce[/name] [name]Lucien[/name] is way too much “oo.”
P.S. It is so beautiful that you are naming your son after your late father-in-law whom you never got to meet.
[name]Love[/name] [name]Bruce[/name] [name]Abraham[/name] and [name]Bruce[/name] [name]Sebastian[/name]!
DH and I like [name]Bruce[/name] [name]Evander[/name] but it feels almost too masculine to me… like this kid is ready to kick some ar$e! WDYT? Could you imagine it on a bookish glasses wearing computer geek type? Cause our genes are not particularly athletic
[name]Bruce[/name] [name]Matthias[/name], [name]Bruce[/name] [name]Sebastian[/name], and [name]Bruce[/name] Cunningham are my favorites. [name]Bruce[/name] [name]Matthias[/name] is the most versatile.
[name]Bruce[/name] [name]Zachariah[/name] (Could go by [name]Zack[/name])
[name]Bruce[/name] [name]Sampson[/name] ([name]Sam[/name])
[name]Bruce[/name] [name]Michaiah[/name] ([name]Mike[/name] or [name]Micah[/name])
