Okay… I’m going to try to convince myself for a moment that I’m 100% set on the name [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] for baby girl number two (due in about six weeks). It was one of the top two choices for our first baby, but husband and I decided she was more of a [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f]. We decided that if we got pregnant with another girl, we would call her [name_f]Clementine[/name_f].
With six weeks to go and normal cold feet and reservations aside, we are ultimately set on [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]. Husband is definitely all in and loves the name. So, the new challenge is a middle name. My husband likes shorter middle names and has thrown [name_f]Jade[/name_f] out there several times. I, too, like the shorter middles with [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] and I think [name_f]Jade[/name_f] goes perfectly with it. However, our first daughter has my middle name, which I share with both of my grandmothers, so it has meaning. So, I’d like our second baby’s middle name to have meaning as well.
Here are some ideas that I have mulling around in this indecisive head of mine and PLEASE… be completely honest with me.
My husband will go for any of the above, so all I need to do is convince myself. Our last name is two syllables.
If you have any other variations of [name_u]Ryan[/name_u] or feminizations of [name_m]Matthew[/name_m] (which I realize [name_f]Mathilda[/name_f]/[name_f]Mathilde[/name_f] is a bit of a stretch on that or something I completely made up, but it has the [name_m]Math[/name_m] part, so I’m happy with it). Also, let me know what you think of how each combination sounds and if the work at all together.
There is [name_f]Mattea[/name_f] for a version of [name_m]Matthew[/name_m] or maybe [name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f] or [name_f]Riona[/name_f] for [name_u]Ryan[/name_u]. [name_m]Even[/name_m] though it’s a little long, I like [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] [name_f]Mathilda[/name_f] from your options. The [name_u]Ryan[/name_u]/[name_f]Ryanne[/name_f]/[name_m]Ry[/name_m] names take away some of [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]'s beauty and spunkiness.
The “I” sound in the end of [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] and beginning of [name_u]Ryan[/name_u] are throwing me off a bit with that combo. Maybe [name_f]Raine[/name_f], [name_f]Wren[/name_f], or [name_f]Rhea[/name_f] would work as alternatives for [name_u]Ryan[/name_u], or even [name_f]Ann[/name_f]. [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] [name_f]Mathilda[/name_f] feels kind of long to me, but certainly usable. Congrats!
[name_f]Clementine[/name_f] [name_u]Riley[/name_u]. It has the sound of the first syllable in [name_u]Ryan[/name_u]. [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] could go by [name_f]Emme[/name_f] as a nickname. [name_f]Emme[/name_f] is pronounced M-E, not [name_f]Em[/name_f].
I love [name_f]Mattea[/name_f] and actually hadn’t realized how is was properly pronounced until I looked it up. It’s beautiful!
I agree with the [name_u]Ryan[/name_u] as a middle name taking away a little bit from [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]. And [name_f]Mathilda[/name_f] is my favorite as far as the names I have listed above, I just think it’s a little long when looking at it spelled out.
I just feel like I’m trying to convince myself to like these combinations.
I’ve actually thrown out the idea of using [name_f]Raine[/name_f] as a middle and husband liked that! I love how it sounds! And I just started liking [name_f]Wren[/name_f] more and more! Thank you for your suggestions!
Definitely one of these over the [name_u]Ryan[/name_u] combos.
[name_f]Clementine[/name_f] [name_f]Mathilda[/name_f]
[name_f]Clementine[/name_f] [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f]
I would suggest [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] [name_u]Rae[/name_u].
Based on the fact that you like [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] [name_f]Jade[/name_f], I’d suggest [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f], which sounds a little less word-y.
I think [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] [name_u]Ryan[/name_u]/[name_u]Rylee[/name_u]/[name_f]Ryanne[/name_f] kind of takes something away from the beauty of the name. [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] [name_f]Mathilda[/name_f] is stunning, as is [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] [name_f]Mattea[/name_f]!
