We’ve decided on the first name [name_m]Dixon[/name_m] for our son (due in 3 weeks). These are the middle name options we’ve narrowed it down to:
[name_u]Page[/name_u] (My maiden name but I’ve never heard it used for a boy…too feminine?)
McQuade (It’s a family name/my father-in-law’s middle name but are [name_m]Dixon[/name_m] and McQuade both too unusual to pair together?)
[name_u]James[/name_u] (It’s my husband’s favorite and somewhat of a family name on my side. I’m not sure if it sounds funny to have both his middle and last name ending in ‘s’)
So…what do you think?:
[name_m]Dixon[/name_m] [name_u]Page[/name_u] Shields
[name_m]Dixon[/name_m] McQuade Shields
[name_m]Dixon[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] Shields
I like [name_m]Dixon[/name_m] [name_u]Page[/name_u] and [name_m]Dixon[/name_m] McQuade. I think [name_u]Page[/name_u] totally works, especially because it’s your maiden name. I really like [name_m]Dixon[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u], but I agree that it might sound like too many -s endings.
I really like both [name_m]Dixon[/name_m] [name_u]Page[/name_u] and [name_m]Dixon[/name_m] McQuade. I would probably go with [name_m]Dixon[/name_m] McQuade and save [name_u]Page[/name_u] for a daughter…
I think [name_m]Dixon[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] is the best fn/mn combo, but I agree that it’s a little too S heavy with the last name, so my vote is for [name_m]Dixon[/name_m] McQuade.
Without considering how any of the names sound as a combo, [name_u]James[/name_u] is my favorite. Then [name_u]Page[/name_u], followed by McQuade. However, I actually prefer how McQuade sounds with your last name, so I’m giving him my vote. Like @tfzolghadr said it sounds kind of rugged and cowboy-ish.
I thought [name_m]Dixon[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] would work well before I read your post so [name_m]Dixon[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] Shields gets my vote!
Hmm…
[name_m]Dixon[/name_m] [name_u]Page[/name_u] - This feels really feminine I like the fact that your using your maiden name but I just think teamed with [name_m]Dixon[/name_m] is too feminine, as [name_m]Dixon[/name_m] could be used as a girl’s name considering [name_u]Madison[/name_u] (meaning son of [name_f]Maud[/name_f]) is used as a girl’s name. Due to this I think this combination just doesn’t scream masculinity.
[name_m]Dixon[/name_m] McQuade - Ugh I’m really not into McQuade as a middle name with [name_m]Dixon[/name_m] surname over-load.
[name_m]Dixon[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] - [name_f]Lovely[/name_f] combination, [name_u]James[/name_u] is just such a stable classic and sounds great with [name_m]Dixon[/name_m] the whole combination looks really effortless. Yes the flow of [name_m]Dixon[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] Shields is a little off but [name_u]James[/name_u] is loads better than [name_u]Page[/name_u] and McQuade. So I would go with [name_u]James[/name_u]!
