I’m expecting baby #2, and while I have a girl’s name pretty set I have been stuck on a boy’s name.
Both my son and the name I have picked for a girl have very strong family connections.
I am warming to the idea of [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] as a name for possible baby #2, but I am stuck on a middle name. I had been wanting to use [name_m]Peter[/name_m] as a middle (again, a family name), but I don’t think [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] [name_m]Peter[/name_m] flows particularly well as they both have that similar sounding last syllable. I have also been considering using my husband’s name as a middle, but it starts with an R and then I have the problem of a double R sounds right next to each other which I’m also not convinced on.
We don’t really have any other male family names that we would want to use as a middle name, as all the other names are definitely not our taste, but I am quite keen to maintain the family connection somehow, particularly as if this baby is a boy his brother (and possibly his future sister!) will have that real strong connection.
[name_m]Ezra[/name_m] [name_m]Peter[/name_m] is OK, but I do see what you mean about the similar endings. Plus, the names are both two syllables and have the same rhythm, which kind of accentuates it.
Could you maybe use an international variant of [name_m]Peter[/name_m], like [name_m]Pierre[/name_m], [name_m]Piero[/name_m], [name_m]Pedro[/name_m], [name_m]Petru[/name_m], [name_m]Pelle[/name_m], [name_m]Pello[/name_m], Pier, [name_f]Peti[/name_f]…? I know some of those are quite “out there”, but as an honour name you might be able to get away with it!
Or maybe [name_m]Stone[/name_m], since that’s the meaning of [name_m]Peter[/name_m]. I like the sound of [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] [name_m]Stone[/name_m]!
Alternatively, is there a family surname you’d consider using in the middle name slot? Your maiden name, perhaps?
What about [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] Petrus or something? I’m just assuming that’s a variant of [name_m]Peter[/name_m]. You could also look at male counterparts of the names of women in your family (like [name_m]John[/name_m] for [name_f]Jane[/name_f]).
I like [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] [name_m]Peter[/name_m]. [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] [name_m]Stone[/name_m] is a cool idea, I like using the meaning as a way to connect to relatives. It might not feel like an honor name exactly tho, especially when [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] [name_m]Peter[/name_m] is just fine. But definitely edgier/more modern, if that appeals to you.
Thanks for the ideas everyone Perhaps I am overthinking the “sameness” of [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] [name_m]Peter[/name_m]. Good point about them both being double syllable names - although thankfully our last name is one syllable so as a whole it doesn’t sound too bad.
Yay for [name_m]Ezra[/name_m], that is what we are naming our son!
I think [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] [name_m]Peter[/name_m] flows ok.
If not-
[name_m]Ezra[/name_m] [name_m]Piers[/name_m] or [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] [name_m]Pierce[/name_m] (forms of [name_m]Peter[/name_m])
[name_m]Ezra[/name_m] [name_m]Paul[/name_m]
[name_m]Ezra[/name_m] [name_m]Maxwell[/name_m]
