Middle name for Gemma?

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there…I need objective opinions! We’re naming our third daughter [name_f]Gemma[/name_f], but struggling with middle names. I’m leaning toward [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Yvonne[/name_f] (which is a 3rd generation family name), but it seems like a mouthful. Any other suggestions?

[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f] [name_f]Yvonne[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Adrianna[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Roseanna[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Fleur[/name_f] [name_f]Yvonne[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Ariella[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_u]Sage[/name_u] [name_f]Yvonne[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_u]Cade[/name_u] [name_f]Yvonne[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Samantha[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Natalia[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]

I don’t think [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Yvonne[/name_f] is too much of a mouthful… on the contrary, it’s quite lovely. But maybe it’s the 2+2 syllable pattern that’s the problem? It sounds a bit choppy. In the list above, I tried pairing [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] with a longer mn, or I added a one syllable mn with [name_f]Yvonne[/name_f]. Maybe it flows better. [name_m]How[/name_m] many syllables is your last name? I kind of assumed it wasn’t very long…

[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Olivia[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Emilia[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Wren[/name_f]

[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] is a really lovely name btw.

I went with [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] for my third daughter. But I think [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] or [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] would work beautifully.

[name_m]Hi[/name_m]! This is my first time writing on the forum and I was pleasantly surprised to see your post! [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] is our top baby girl name too (if we have a girl, we currently don’t know the sex of our baby)! I too am having a little difficulty with MNs and would like to use a family name. Looking at your post I think that [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Yvonne[/name_f] is lovely and if it’s a family name go for it! Other suggestions (depending on your last name syllables) I thought of include:

[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]

Other fellow berry suggestions I thought were lovely are:
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_u]Sage[/name_u]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Sophia[/name_f]

Good luck!!

It was one of those names I just kept falling in love with, over and over throughout my pregnancy. In the beginning I had so much trouble with a middle name. I ended up asking my 12 year old son for suggestions. He was reading [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m] and said [name_f]Hermione[/name_f]. It worked for us, I loved it so much I even considered it for a first name. However, I had grown so attached to [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] that it became her identity for me. I think finding the name that makes you feel like that is the most important thing!

Also while I’m here I would like to expand my suggestions a little bit.

[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Lucia[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Sophia[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Francesca[/name_f]

[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Diane[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Musette[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Rochelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_u]Rene[/name_u]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Christine[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f]

[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] Evangaline

I love the suggestions of [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f] and [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] as well as [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] (I think it’s always fresh to use a Top 10 first name like [name_f]Sophia[/name_f], [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], [name_f]Isabella[/name_f], etc. as a middle name). Gemma Sophie would also be very sweet.

Suggestions:

[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Florence[/name_f]

[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]

[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] is so sweet! Great pick
I’m a really big fan of [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] as a combo.

[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Yvonne[/name_f] is beautiful!! Based on these name choices, other middles to go with [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] might be:

[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Laurette[/name_f]

[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]

[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Hyacinth[/name_f]

[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Florence[/name_f]

[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Aubrielle[/name_f] or Audrielle

[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Iris[/name_f]

[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Soleil[/name_f]

[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f]

[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_u]Damaris[/name_u]

[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] (English)

[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Therese[/name_f] (Saints)

[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Vittoria[/name_f] (Italian)

These have been mentioned, but I love [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Lucia[/name_f], and [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]! [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] is nice too.

Maybe [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Lucille[/name_f], [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f], [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Isobel[/name_f], [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f], [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Victoria[/name_f], [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Audrey[/name_f]…

Last name is [name_m]Cole[/name_m]. Our other 2 girls also have 3 names ([name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f], for instance), so I like the idea of breaking it up a bit. Thank you!

And, [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f] is ADORABLE!!! Thanks, y’all!

Hmm…
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Yvonne[/name_f] is a mouthful but I love using family names so I would keep [name_f]Yvonne[/name_f] but add another middle name as the first name to create a better flow.
Suggestions:
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Yvonne[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Yvonne[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Yvonne[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f] [name_f]Yvonne[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Reverie[/name_f] [name_f]Yvonne[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] [name_f]Yvonne[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] [name_f]Yvonne[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f] [name_f]Yvonne[/name_f]

: )

I would take the [name_f]Eve[/name_f] part of [name_f]Yvonne[/name_f] and use that instead of [name_f]Yvonne[/name_f] on its own.

[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] [name_f]Eve[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Eva[/name_f] [name_f]Daisy[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] [name_f]Eve[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] [name_f]Eve[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Eve[/name_f]

I like [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Yvonne[/name_f] very much.

I also would like a mn that had the emphasis on the second half of the name like [name_f]Lucille[/name_f], [name_f]Elaine[/name_f], [name_f]Nadine[/name_f], [name_f]Bernice[/name_f], etc.

I think [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Yvonne[/name_f] is very pretty. Family names always get points from me, and a third-generation name is hardly to be passed up [name_f]IMO[/name_f]! I wonder if the vowels next to each other are what bother you – the A going into the EE sound? Putting in a one-syllable, consonant-beginning name as pp suggestion could fix it for you.

[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Wren[/name_f] [name_f]Yvonne[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_f]Yvonne[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_u]Blair[/name_u] [name_f]Yvonne[/name_f]
