[name_m]Hi[/name_m]! We are newly expecting but I’d like to zero in on names (for my last two, their names were picked before we even conceived, lol).
My current children are [name_m]Collier[/name_m] [name_u]Wade[/name_u] (boy) and [name_f]Helen[/name_f] Catte (girl). Catte is pronounced “[name_f]Kate[/name_f]” (it’s a family thing…)
For a boy we’ve already picked [name_m]Abram[/name_m] [name_u]Lee[/name_u].
For a girl, I’m sold on [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] but struggling with a middle name. We like to stick to family names. [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] [name_f]Agnes[/name_f] was my great-grandmother. We’d like to honor my late [name_f]MIL[/name_f], [name_f]Sandra[/name_f] [name_u]Kay[/name_u]. I love [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] [name_u]Kay[/name_u], but worry “[name_u]Kay[/name_u]” sounds exactly like “Catte.” Help! My [name_m]SIL[/name_m] is [name_f]Aleena[/name_f] [name_f]Madel[/name_f]. My husband is 1/2 Lebanese… any ideas? [name_f]TIA[/name_f]!!
If you love [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] [name_u]Kay[/name_u], I think it is fine with [name_f]Helen[/name_f] Catte. If you aren’t sold what about…
[name_f]Goldie[/name_f] [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] ([name_f]Sandra[/name_f] is based off the name [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f])
[name_f]Goldie[/name_f] [name_f]Alessia[/name_f] (see above)
[name_f]Goldie[/name_f] [name_f]Katelyn[/name_f] (similar to [name_u]Kay[/name_u])
[name_f]Goldie[/name_f] [name_f]Cassia[/name_f]
I love [name_m]Abram[/name_m]! It’s handsome & unexpected.
[name_f]Goldie[/name_f] is super sweet for a girl, & works really well w/your crew. [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] [name_u]Kay[/name_u] is beautiful. It is close to Catte, but I’m not sure that it’s a big deal. It’s not the same name, & it’s special that it honor Grandma so directly. I like [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] [name_f]Kathleen[/name_f] as another ‘K’ name, but it seems less obvious.
I love your kids’ names and also love [name_m]Abram[/name_m] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] for a little boy!
I don’t think [name_u]Kay[/name_u] is too close to Catte, especially since they look so different and are in the middle name spot, so I imagine they won’t be used too frequently in daily life.
Some other options could be:
[name_f]Goldie[/name_f] [name_f]Alessa[/name_f] (since [name_f]Sandra[/name_f] comes from [name_f]Alessandra[/name_f] and [name_f]Alessa[/name_f] is an alternate nickname)
[name_f]Goldie[/name_f] [name_f]Zandra[/name_f]/[name_f]Xandra[/name_f] (Some other variants of [name_f]Sandra[/name_f])
[name_f]Goldie[/name_f] [name_f]Cassia[/name_f] (Someone above already suggested this one, but I think this could also be a good option for honoring [name_f]Sandra[/name_f] [name_u]Kay[/name_u] because [name_f]Sandra[/name_f] can be a nickname for [name_f]Cassandra[/name_f], and [name_f]Cassia[/name_f] sounds similar. [name_f]Cassia[/name_f] also is a bit similar to [name_u]Kay[/name_u], so it’s kind of somewhere between “[name_f]Sandra[/name_f]” and "[name_u]Kay[/name_u]. I also like that with this option, all of your children would have at least one of their names start with a “C,” but it wouldn’t be too matchy.)
[name_f]Goldie[/name_f] [name_f]Aminta[/name_f] ([name_f]Sandra[/name_f] means “defender/protector of men,” and [name_f]Aminta[/name_f] also means “defender.”)
[name_f]Goldie[/name_f] [name_f]Minette[/name_f] ([name_f]Minette[/name_f] also has “defender” in its meaning.)
[name_f]Goldie[/name_f] [name_f]Abrial[/name_f] ([name_f]Abrial[/name_f] means “open, secured, protected,” so it also has a similar meaning to [name_f]Sandra[/name_f].)
[name_f]Goldie[/name_f] [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] ([name_f]Ramona[/name_f] means “wise protector,” so it also has a similar meaning. It also seems that [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] has a similar feel to some of the other names you like.)
[name_f]Goldie[/name_f] [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f]/[name_f]Rosamond[/name_f] (These names mean “horse protection,” so not 100% the same meaning as [name_f]Sandra[/name_f] but in the same area.)
[name_f]Goldie[/name_f] [name_f]Acacia[/name_f] ([name_f]Acacia[/name_f] has the “kay” sound in it.)
Because they’re middles I don’t think it would be the end of the world if you went with [name_u]Kay[/name_u], though it does sound almost exactly like Catte.
You could go with [name_f]Sandra[/name_f]. It may not have the same ring as [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] [name_u]Kay[/name_u] but is still nice and would still honor your mil.
You could use a name with similar sounds to [name_f]Sandra[/name_f], like [name_f]Alessandra[/name_f] suggested above, or:
[name_f]Goldie[/name_f] [name_f]Casandra[/name_f]
[name_f]Goldie[/name_f] [name_f]Corisande[/name_f]
[name_f]Goldie[/name_f] Lysandra/[name_f]Lisandra[/name_f]
[name_f]Goldie[/name_f] [name_f]Melisande[/name_f]/[name_f]Melisandra[/name_f]
[name_f]Goldie[/name_f] [name_f]Sandrelle[/name_f]/Sandine/Sandene/[name_f]Sandrette[/name_f]/[name_f]Sandira[/name_f] (all diminutive forms of [name_f]Alessandra[/name_f])
And has others have mentioned, you could potentially go for any K name from [name_u]Kay[/name_u].
You could also use a different family name this time of neither [name_f]Sandra[/name_f] or [name_u]Kay[/name_u] feels right for various reasons. [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] [name_f]Madel[/name_f] for example is quite cute.
Congratulations!! I love [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] so sweet! I think [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] [name_u]Kay[/name_u] sounds great. It is similar to Catte but I don’t think it matters too much. Otherwise, I love the suggestion of [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] [name_f]Casandra[/name_f].
