So I think me and my partner have decided on [name_f]Ida[/name_f] for our little girl. My partner loves it and I am coming around to it.
I just cannot choose a middle name to go with it! I’m trying to find something that makes it seem not so old lady-ish, if that makes sense?
I like word/nature/colour names and ones that are a bit more out there. But i’m open to any kind of suggestions. I’m also contemplating two middle names if we find the right ones. The surname is 2 syllables, starts with W and ends in “ee”. [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is out as its her big sister, [name_f]Indi[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]'s.
Some names I like at the moment but don’t quite seem to flow, are -
My great-grandmother was called [name_f]Ida[/name_f] [name_u]Blaine[/name_u], which I’ve always liked. I know it’s possibly counter-productive to mention someone old here, but it was an interesting choice for the time! That’s a unisex name that doesn’t get as much attention as most of the others.
Other ideas:
[name_f]Ida[/name_f] [name_f]Allegra[/name_f]
[name_f]Ida[/name_f] [name_f]Catalina[/name_f]
[name_f]Ida[/name_f] [name_f]Cyane[/name_f] / [name_u]Cyan[/name_u] (since you have a few nature / color names in your list)
[name_f]Ida[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f] (I also love the suggestion of [name_f]Lillian[/name_f])
[name_f]Ida[/name_f] [name_f]Lux[/name_f]
[name_f]Ida[/name_f] [name_u]Paisley[/name_u]
[name_f]Ida[/name_f] [name_u]Shea[/name_u]
[name_f]Ida[/name_f] [name_f]Shirin[/name_f]
[name_f]Ida[/name_f] [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f]
[name_f]Ida[/name_f] [name_f]Tesla[/name_f] (I also like [name_f]Tess[/name_f], but that might veer into old-fashioned territory)
[name_f]Ida[/name_f] [name_f]Zadie[/name_f] (same issue as [name_f]Tess[/name_f], with [name_f]Sadie[/name_f], but this is one variation I actually love)
[name_f]Ida[/name_f] [name_f]Zella[/name_f]
[name_f]Ida[/name_f] [name_f]Zephyrine[/name_f]
Oh gosh I don’t think this is making it any easier! Such nice suggestions!!
I also like [name_f]Ida[/name_f] Erys Nightingale but wondering if having the two vowels close together makes it sound like the name is all one word, like Idaerys?
Of these, [name_f]Ida[/name_f] [name_f]Miren[/name_f], [name_f]Ida[/name_f] [name_f]Trula[/name_f], and [name_f]Ida[/name_f] [name_u]Rae[/name_u] are my favorites.
As [name_f]Ida[/name_f] can sound a bit like “I had a” said quickly, I suggest going for a middle name which isn’t a word in English, so that (for example) [name_f]Ida[/name_f] [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] doesn’t end up sounding like “I had a [name_u]Ruby[/name_u]”.
