We really like the name [name_m]Isaac[/name_m]. It means laughter and joy–things we wish for our son. His sister’s name means “full of life.” We’d love to have a family name as the middle name, but we aren’t sure if the names flow or not. Our last name starts with P and is 2 syllables.
What do you think about:
[name_m]Isaac[/name_m] [name_u]Evan[/name_u]
[name_m]Isaac[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u]
[name_m]Isaac[/name_m] [name_m]Joseph[/name_m]
[name_m]Isaac[/name_m] [name_m]Matthew[/name_m]
[name_m]Isaac[/name_m] [name_m]John[/name_m]
[name_m]Isaac[/name_m] [name_m]Clifford[/name_m]
(I really want to name baby [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] [name_u]Evan[/name_u] after a specific family member, but that is the one I’m the most nervous about for flow–and husband is most hesitant about that one for flow too).
I think [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] flows beautifully - perhaps [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] [name_u]Evan[/name_u] is worth considering though - having two middle names could allow you to bridge the gap and ease the flow between [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] and [name_u]Evan[/name_u]? I like [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] [name_u]Evan[/name_u] too — it pretty much flows the same as your other 2-syllable options to my ear.
[name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] [name_u]Everett[/name_u] or [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] [name_m]Evander[/name_m] to shake up the flow a little if you’re unsure?
[name_m]Isaac[/name_m] [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] is my personal favourite, but you can’t really go wrong with classic, meaningful family middles!
I like [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] best. Although it’s not on your list I think [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] would pair well.
I like all the middles except [name_m]Clifford[/name_m] ( turns to [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] Lifford when I say it, which isn’t a dealbreaker-- i mostly just dont care for [name_m]Clifford[/name_m]).
I don’t think [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] [name_u]Evan[/name_u] is problematic. It’s an important name to you and after we stress and freak out of middle names while pregnant, for many people middle names aren’t part of every day life. I also don’t think it flows badly. I imagine you’re worried it smooshes and could possibly turn to [name_u]Isa[/name_u] [name_m]Kevin[/name_m]? Since [name_u]Isa[/name_u] is not a name and since I don’t think it really smooshes much at all, I don’t think this would be a real life problem.
We are due with baby number 1 in about 4 weeks, and so far [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] is our top pick for a name too! Great taste haha.
If we go with [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] we are also doing the honour name thing for the middle and will most likely choose [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] [name_u]Roy[/name_u] after DH’s grandfather who passed away recently.
Of your list of options, I think all of those names sound fine, and quite honestly if you like [name_u]Evan[/name_u] the best, I think you should go with it. [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] [name_u]Evan[/name_u] sounds fine to me. Middle names really aren’t used that often.
Perhaps you could try saying/calling the full name (with your surname) out loud and see what you think. We have tried this with a couple of our options, and it really helps.
If you really are still feeling hesitant, then my picks from your list are [name_u]James[/name_u] or [name_m]John[/name_m]. I think all your name choices are lovely, and they all work well with [name_m]Isaac[/name_m], but the single syllable names do sound a little better to me if you’re super worried about flow!
