We haven’t settled on [name]James[/name] yet, but it’s our top contender at the moment. We love the name but something is keeping us from committing. We’re hoping that we can find the perfect middle name that will make us love the name even more.”
So, I was wondering what middle names you would pair with [name]James[/name]. Our last name is two syllables ([name]Pryor[/name]) so we think a three syllable middle would work best, but we’ll take any suggestions. To give you an idea of the type of middle names we gravitate towards, our kids are [name]William[/name] [name]Frederick[/name] and [name]Alice[/name] [name]Viola[/name]. We seem to like middle names that are heard of (nothing too out there) but uncommon and unusual. I can’t wait to see what you pair with [name]James[/name].”

My brother is [name]James[/name] [name]Harper[/name]. I know he loves it. He is 25 so when he was born, [name]Harper[/name] wasn’t as popular as it now.

A few things:

  1. I love [name]James[/name] [name]Oliver[/name] and [name]James[/name] [name]Theodore[/name], but I’m worried about how [name]Oliver[/name] and [name]Theodore[/name] sound with [name]Pryor[/name]. They seem a little rhymey. [name]Oliver[/name] is worse, but neither one seems ideal. What do you think? [name]James[/name] [name]Oliver[/name] [name]Pryor[/name]? [name]James[/name] [name]Theodore[/name] [name]Pryor[/name]?”
  2. I [name]LOVE[/name] the name [name]Sebastian[/name], though I’d never use it as a first name. It seems like it would be perfect to use it in the middle, but I have 2 concerns. One, is it over the top to have 2 Twelfth [name]Night[/name] names? Would [name]Alice[/name] [name]Viola[/name] and [name]James[/name] [name]Sebastian[/name] be too much? Second, how is the flow of [name]James[/name] [name]Sebastian[/name]? [name]Do[/name] the Ss run together too much?”

Our son is [name]James[/name] [name]Henry[/name], so of course this is my favorite combo! We’ve been very happy with our choice. We have a 3 syllable last name, and I know you have 2 syllables, so you may not like the flow quite as much. But I think [name]James[/name] [name]Henry[/name] [name]Pryor[/name] sounds great!
