I love James Rafferty’s style, but James Daniel is my second favorite. ‘JD’ is sweet nickname.
I think regret would come from a personal place, and would depend on your relationship with that person. Also are you feeling pressured to choose an honor name vs the name you love? At the end of the day the child is their own person, and if the honor names feels more like a requirement then I would skip it. On the other hand, if you truly do want to honor the person and you’re worried about the name being too common, just remember that the online world has really driven this idea of ‘aesthetic’, unique, perfect names, even if it’s not always practical, it’s more a by product of algorithms and baby name hobbyist’s like ourselves on nameberry forums! At the end of the day having a common/classic name is not bad - particularly if it has lots of special meaning. Just some thoughts, hope they help!
James Oscar and James Vincent are both handsome, but they have repeating S sounds which don’t flow as well as the others.
I think a double middle name could definitely work with James, and would break up the S sounds. James Daniel Vincent sounds great. James Daniel Rafferty is handsome too, though feels pretty long.
