Me again! I’ve given in to my incredibly stubborn husband and we will be naming our baby girl [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] nn [name_u]June[/name_u]. Now for the really hard part - middle names!
We’re not too fond of super feminine or frilly names (think [name_f]Persephone[/name_f], [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]), but we would like a slightly more common and feminine middle to go with her more uncommon first name as we did with her sister.
So far our top picks are
[ul]
[/ul]
Which of the three do you think works the best? Or do you have another suggestion?
Big sister is [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u] [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f]. Surname sounds like “back-wrote”.
My favourite is [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f], I think it fits beautifully with [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u] [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] (which is also lovely, btw!).
I like [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]! I don’t think it’s cartoonish, though I am maybe more alliteration-friendly than some people. [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] is also pretty and it’s nice that it’s your middle name, but possibly a little too much on the months if she’s going by [name_u]June[/name_u]? I don’t love [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] since it’s double plants and the Rs run together for me. [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Claire[/name_f] and [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] from above are also nice, and I’ll suggest [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Faye[/name_f].
Yeah, I’m not usually big on alliteration in names. My husband is in love with the idea of [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Jane[/name_f], though, and [name_f]Jane[/name_f] is my grandmother’s name so I’m trying my best to learn to love it.
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is probably my favorite, and I don’t have a problem with the r’s, but I don’t know if I can get past naming her after two plants. It sucks because I really wanted a little [name_f]Rosie[/name_f], but my husband wasn’t really on board with it and this was my way of compromising.
I also agree about [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] being too monthy, because I imagine she’ll be called [name_u]June[/name_u] most of the time and I’m the kind of mom who uses my kids’ middle names daily (usually when they’re being a pain haha). I don’t know if [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] is different enough for me to stop hearing “[name_u]June[/name_u] [name_f]May[/name_f]”.
[name_f]Claire[/name_f] and [name_f]Faye[/name_f] are interesting though, and something I’ll have to think about.
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Claire[/name_f] is pretty! Not sure how I hadn’t thought of that one.
I also really like [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Margot[/name_f], but I don’t know if it would work with our surname “back-wrote”. It’s one of the same reservations I have about [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] - the double long O sound. I’m afraid it ruins the flow.
[name_m]Major[/name_m] hearteyes for [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], but my [name_m]SIL[/name_m] just announced that they plan to name their daughter (if they ever have one) [name_f]Lucy[/name_f]. I’d feel like a jerk if I used it now, even though we’re talking about a hypothetical baby haha.
I really like [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Louise[/name_f]! Thank you!
I love Juniper Rose nn June or June Rose (since you said you use the middle name frequently). I think June Rose is adorable. =] I hadn’t even thought about it being two plant names until you mentioned it in an earlier comment. I also don’t think Juniper Rose sounds back with your last name. The long O sounds are separated by another sound, so I think in this case it sounds fine. =] Same thing with Margot. I think the long O sounds are separate enough, though I do think Rose sounds better than Margot for some reason.
I also like the previous suggestions of Kate and Claire. Perhaps Juniper Eden? I don’t know about June Eden, but Juniper Eden sounds nice.
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] does seem to be the clear favorite here so far, so I won’t write it off. I just tend to overthink things a bit. My heart is telling me it’s her name, I guess it’s a matter of wanting to make sure that I’ve really explored our options before we decide and then getting my husband on board.
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_u]Eden[/name_u] does sound nice! And [name_u]Eden[/name_u] isn’t too far off from a family name ([name_f]Edith[/name_f]), which could be a nice touch.
