We are having a hard time coming up with our FOURTH girls name. We had Avalon Claire, but it doesn’t sit right with our other daughters names and normally that wouldn’t bother we already have an Adeline (as well as Tempest and Ciara) so it is maybe a bit toooo close!
Today I randomly thought of Mallee which is a tree and the region they are found in Southern Australia where I grew up. My partner is for it, but being so unusual we are struggling with a middle name? Any suggestions? Our last name is quite common and ends in OR
I like how Mallee has a special meaning to you and I think it has an upbeat, sparkling sound. Taking inspiration from you former choice id go with
Mallee [name_f]Claire[/name_f]
[name_u]Or[/name_u] Mallee [name_f]Ava[/name_f]
More loosely inspired by [name_f]Avalon[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f]:
Mallee [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]
Mallee [name_u]Marion[/name_u]
Mallee [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]
Mallee [name_f]Alana[/name_f]
Mallee [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]
Mallee [name_f]Cate[/name_f]
Mallee [name_f]Caitriona[/name_f] (or Katrina)
Mallee [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]
Mallee Émeline
Mallee [name_f]Victoria[/name_f]
Mallee [name_u]Valentine[/name_u]
I automatically though Wimmera haha.
(I’m in Wimmera [name_u]South[/name_u] Mallee atm)
What about [name_u]Swan[/name_u], [name_f]Hope[/name_f], [name_u]Robin[/name_u], [name_f]Beulah[/name_f], Torrita, [name_f]Nyah[/name_f], or Mildura if you want to keep going with Aussie areas?
Haha Wimmera is beautiful but might be a bit too carried away. I’m actually from the western Australian Mallee abd our names aren’t quite as beautiful Eg. Grass [name_m]Patch[/name_m] abd [name_u]Salmon[/name_u] Gums
Could definitely add an extra Aussie name not sure if it’s TOO much though.
They are beautiful trees! One of my favourites. I saw a forum where there was comments on how ugly the trees and scrub was so not a nice connotation with the name. I’m glad you could see where I was coming from
A lot of these we considered I love [name_f]Neve[/name_f], he loves [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] and we both liked [name_u]Vivian[/name_u].
I’m Aussie and pleased to see Mallee come up - a distinctly Australian name!
I also immediately think of the great character in [name_f]Kylie[/name_f] Tennant’s The [name_f]Honey[/name_f] Flow, a lovely novel which I suggest you get hold of if you use Mallee!
I quite like traditional names paired with Mallee, and think it goes well with a lot of my favourite longer girls’ names:
Thank you! I’m so glad to see so many Australians commenting positively.
I’m the same I tend to choose unusual first names with traditional second names.
