My second little girl is due in 6 weeks and we’re pretty much settled on using [name]Martha[/name] as a first name which I love. My sister’s name is [name]Beth[/name] and I had planned to use that as a middle name but I have been put off it … someone told me she would be bullied because of the double ‘th’ sound and that it makes them think of a rude word!! (sorry that’s the best way I can explain it) Part of me thinks this is silly but I also don’t want to regret the choice. So my questions to you very helpful nameberry fans are, firstly, what do you think of ‘[name]Martha[/name] [name]Beth[/name]’ and do you think it will be problematic in any way? Secondly, I quite like the name [name]Phoebe[/name] perhaps as a middle name instead. Any other suggestions welcome. My little one is called [name]Tess[/name] [name]Amelie[/name]. I love her name and want to find something I love as much

It would be sweet to honor your sister, and I rather like the sound of it together because both names are so classic and underused. I don’t think bullying would be likely given how infrequently middle names are used, and both names are antique classics anyway that you really can’t go wrong with.
[name]Martha[/name] [name]Pheobe[/name] looks a bit off to me, but it can work if you love it. It looks like a style clash to me, but the sound isn’t bad.

The double “th” personally bugs me, but if it doesn’t bug you then go for it! [name]Beth[/name] is a sweet choice and I love that it honors your sister. I don’t think it sounds bad at all it’s just a preference thing with me. If I met one I’d think that’s cute. [name]Martha[/name] is a cute name!
