I am naming my daughter after my grandmother [name_f]Odelia[/name_f].
We are going to call her ‘[name_m]Odie[/name_m]’ for short (That’s my nana’s nickname)
I really like whimsical names, and very girly names, but something short and sweet may be best, and nothing ending in -y or -y sounds please (wont work with our last name.)
[name_f]Odelia[/name_f] [name_u]Story[/name_u] is the first thing that came to mind.
Also, at babynamespedia I found this… it’s very similar to [name_f]Odelia[/name_f]!
[name_f]Dalia[/name_f]'s origin and use are both in the Lithuanian language. The meaning here is ‘luck, fate’. In Lithuanian mythology [name_f]Dalia[/name_f] was a goddess of fate and weaving; she was sometimes taken as a manifestation of Laima, another goddess of fate.
Oh and I like [name_u]Story[/name_u], I also like [name_f]Mercy[/name_f] but with the -y at the end and the -y at my last name names that end in -y sound really mouth
I was considering [name_u]Poet[/name_u] as a first name! I really like [name_f]Odelia[/name_f] [name_u]Poet[/name_u]! I too really like -y endings but then my husband says them fast and dang it, they just get mouthy.
Is [name_f]Odelia[/name_f] [name_f]Sunshine[/name_f] too out there? I thought it may be cute with her sister [name_f]Sparrow[/name_f]'s name.
[name_f]Odelia[/name_f] [name_f]Sunshine[/name_f] is OK - it sounds short and abrupt to my ears. [name_f]Odelia[/name_f] [name_f]Soleil[/name_f], [name_f]Odelia[/name_f] [name_f]Summer[/name_f], [name_f]Odelia[/name_f] [name_u]Lake[/name_u], [name_f]Odelia[/name_f] Wildflower…
I really like [name_u]Poet[/name_u] or [name_u]Story[/name_u] in the middle.
What do you guys think of [name_f]Odelia[/name_f] [name_f]Spring[/name_f]? Does it sound to much like a spring - like a utility thing, and not like a season? That is my concern.
I really like wildflower, but it sounds so long… I love the nature flowery names though.
Maybe [name_f]Odelia[/name_f] [name_f]Delphine[/name_f]?
I like [name_f]Odelia[/name_f] [name_f]Spring[/name_f] and no, I don’t think it sounds too much like a spring, “like a utility thing”. I’m not a huge fan of [name_f]Delphine[/name_f] in the middle but it is pretty.
What about [name_f]Odelia[/name_f] [name_f]Blossom[/name_f]?
[name_f]Odelia[/name_f] [name_f]Cassia[/name_f]
[name_f]Odelia[/name_f] [name_u]Frost[/name_u]
[name_f]Odelia[/name_f] [name_f]Snow[/name_f]
[name_f]Odelia[/name_f] [name_f]Honey[/name_f] (but it ends in -y GRR!)
[name_f]Odelia[/name_f] [name_f]Moon[/name_f]
[name_f]Odelia[/name_f] Nightingale (too long?)
[name_f]Odelia[/name_f] [name_f]Petal[/name_f]
[name_f]Odelia[/name_f] Skylark
[name_f]Odelia[/name_f] [name_u]Storm[/name_u]
OH MY GOSH! My kids call my mom ‘[name_f]Honey[/name_f]’ I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] the idea of naming her after both my grandmother and mother. But it ends in y!!! My last name ends in -phy
Honestly you won’t be saying all three names out loud very often - I don’t think that should stop you from using a name you [name_u]LOVE[/name_u]. [name_f]Odelia[/name_f] [name_f]Honey[/name_f] [name_u]Murphy[/name_u] will mostly be called [name_f]Odelia[/name_f] [name_u]Murphy[/name_u] or simply [name_f]Odelia[/name_f] right? (I’m just pretending with this last name since it ends in -phy.)
Not sure my husband will go it, he seems to think something short like ‘[name_u]June[/name_u]’ but not [name_u]June[/name_u] he says, sounds best. lol oi, we have another couple of months thankfully. Thank you for all your help!
[name_m]Just[/name_m] wanted to say I love [name_f]Odelia[/name_f].
For middles could you use something that ends in y but not the “ee” sound? Like…
[name_f]Odelia[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f]
[name_f]Odelia[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f]
[name_f]Odelia[/name_f] [name_u]Sky[/name_u]/e
