Hello all. I’m due in the spring time, so I wanted to find a springtime name as a middle for [name_u]Po[/name_u]ésie (means poetry in [name_m]French[/name_m]). [name_f]Mar[/name_f]ée (means ocean tide in [name_m]French[/name_m]) was born in the winter, and [name_f]Snow[/name_f] was picked because the first snow of the year fell the day I went into labor. I want some similar experience with [name_u]Po[/name_u]ésie, but I obviously can’t count on that, so I want to go to the hospital prepared. [name_u]Po[/name_u]ésie is decided, by the way (suggested by a berry, actually), so this is just about the middle name
I’m looking for a nature / spring English word name. We live in [name_f]Canada[/name_f] right now, but we’re moving to [name_f]France[/name_f] next year so I’m hoping for something [name_f]France[/name_f] friendly (no TH please!) I don’t want to do a flower name, for sure. I’d like it to have the same kind of feel as [name_f]Snow[/name_f]… delicate, with a lot of imagery.
I would really appreciate any suggestions Hopefully this isn’t too picky. Thank you so much in advance, everyone.
What is the [name_m]French[/name_m] word for spring. That might make a good name. Sorry, but I don’t speak [name_m]French[/name_m].
some other possibilities
[name_f]Fleur[/name_f]
[name_f]Pascala[/name_f]
Poesie is lovely in English, but I would get some opinions from [name_m]French[/name_m] speakers (if you’re not a native speaker) on how it sounds as a name in [name_m]French[/name_m] since you are moving there.
I love the suggestions of [name_f]Lark[/name_f], [name_f]Maple[/name_f], [name_f]Morning[/name_f], [name_f]Fawn[/name_f], [name_f]Fern[/name_f] and [name_u]Wren[/name_u] especially!
[name_u]Po[/name_u]ésie [name_f]Swan[/name_f] sprang to mind immediately: plus, [name_f]Swan[/name_f]/Swann has the benefit of being known (but not popular) as a given name in [name_f]France[/name_f], due to the literary association with [name_m]Marcel[/name_m] [name_m]Proust[/name_m].
A few more ideas:
[name_u]Po[/name_u]ésie [name_u]Bay[/name_u]
[name_u]Po[/name_u]ésie [name_u]Dove[/name_u]
[name_u]Po[/name_u]ésie Bloom
[name_u]Po[/name_u]ésie [name_f]Breeze[/name_f]
[name_u]Po[/name_u]ésie [name_u]Bliss[/name_u]
[name_u]Po[/name_u]ésie [name_f]Flora[/name_f] (nature meaning and also the [name_m]Roman[/name_m] goddess of spring)
[name_f]Aurore[/name_f] - [name_m]French[/name_m] for dawn, dawn definately evokes imagery, and it plays into the spring/ beginning thing
[name_u]Rain[/name_u] - as in spring rain
Perséphone/ [name_f]Persephone[/name_f] - the Greek goddess of spring
[name_u]Pascale[/name_u] - a name referencing [name_f]Easter[/name_f]
[name_u]Mio[/name_u] - Japanese name meanng "cherry blossom. I know you aren’t keen on flower names, but this is less obvious to English/ [name_m]French[/name_m] ears, and very symbolic of spring
Mist - related to rain
you could also consider a name referring to a baby animal like [name_f]Fawn[/name_f], Cub, Gosling, or Tadpole
