I’ve always adored the name [name_f]Rhea[/name_f] - I pronounce it [name_f]Ree[/name_f]-ah, the first time I encountered this name (age 12) the woman who wore it said it this way.
As you’ll see in my signature, it’s currently paired with Charnelle, which is a family name on my SOs side. It’s his mother’s maiden name. I figured since I’m quite set on using [name_u]Avery[/name_u] (my current surname) and incorporating [name_m]Gold[/name_m] (my mother’s maiden name) into middle names, it only seemed fair to use Charnelle as well.
However, firstly, no one really likes it (including me, though I do think it works with [name_f]Rhea[/name_f]). Secondly, SO’s mum is already honoured in part of [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] and any future children will have her married surname. And finally, it does come from the word ‘charnel’, as in “building or chamber in which bodies or bones are deposited” - I was just hoping no one else would notice that!
So I’m not massively attached to it, I just generally prefer it when I can honour some one in the middle spot.
Names which could be used to honour are: [name_f]Sheila[/name_f], [name_f]Judith[/name_f], [name_f]Freda[/name_f], [name_f]Natalie[/name_f], [name_f]Beverly[/name_f], [name_f]Abigail[/name_f], [name_f]Stephanie[/name_f], [name_f]Susan[/name_f], and [name_f]Maureen[/name_f]/[name_f]Bae[/name_f] (she hates her name, and was called ‘[name_u]Baby[/name_u]’ by her siblings/parents, eventually it shortened to ‘[name_f]Bae[/name_f]’ and has stuck since! She’s 93!).
Any suggestions - even if they’re names you just think pair well with [name_f]Rhea[/name_f] - would be very welcome!
I have also considered [name_f]Rhea[/name_f] Kestrel, but it’s way too out there for my SO, which does rule it out unfortunately.
