[name_f]Serena[/name_f] [name_f]Lux[/name_f]! I adore [name_f]Violet[/name_f], and much prefer it to [name_f]Lux[/name_f], but [name_f]Serena[/name_f] [name_f]Lux[/name_f] is so fun and full of light. I would opt for [name_f]Serena[/name_f] [name_f]Lux[/name_f], and save [name_f]Violet[/name_f] for another baby.
[name_f]Serena[/name_f] [name_f]Lux[/name_f] is absolutely gorgeous. I agree with the previous poster, save [name_f]Violet[/name_f] for another baby.
I love both! I’m going with [name_f]Serena[/name_f] [name_f]Lux[/name_f] though, it seems slightly more fresh! Whatever you pick will be gorgeous though!
I agree, definitely love [name_f]Lux[/name_f]. I have gotta mixed reviews on this name so I needed some feedback. [name_f]Glad[/name_f] to see you ladies like it!! I have also thought about saving [name_f]Violet[/name_f] for another child
[name_f]Lux[/name_f] is definitely nms, but [name_f]Serena[/name_f] [name_f]Lux[/name_f] sounds so much better than [name_f]Serena[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]!
I agree [name_f]Serena[/name_f] [name_f]Lux[/name_f] flows better than [name_f]Violet[/name_f]…the reason I chose [name_f]Violet[/name_f] as another option is because people have told me [name_f]Lux[/name_f] makes the name sound like an “adult film star name” but I don’t see it!! I actually do like it…
I am open to honest opinons and suggestions!
I’m really sorry, but I have to disagree with previous posters.
I can see why others (who are NOT name-nerds!) would be opposed to [name_f]Lux[/name_f].
It is not familiar as a name, and brings to mind the word luxury.
I can see why some might think of an “adult film star” (and that’s a polite way of putting it) when seeing [name_f]Lux[/name_f].
From the perspective of someone unfamiliar with [name_f]Lux[/name_f], it calls to mind either a luxury high-class hooker image or a luxury car brand.
Until now, I myself was not familiar with the name [name_f]Lux[/name_f], so I clicked on it to read about it before voting in your poll and posting here.
It does have a lovely meaning, but because of the image the name itself initially brought to my mind, I would not use it.
I am just telling you my honest first impression from the perspective of someone unfamiliar with the name, upon seeing it for the first time.
And, unlike most people your daughter meets, I adore researching names!! So, I may personally be more open to the name [name_f]Lux[/name_f] than the general public.
There are many other beautiful “L” names that mean “light”. Have you considered any of them? Here are some ideas:
[name_f]Leora[/name_f]
[name_u]Lior[/name_u]
[name_f]Lucasta[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucia[/name_f]
[name_f]Luciana[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucienne[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucilla[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucille[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucinda[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f]
Lumiere
[name_f]Luz[/name_f]
[name_u]Sincere[/name_u] best wishes with whatever name you choose!
This exactly
I think she’d have a difficult time with it in life (not super difficult, just annoying) when other kids are all comparing middle names together and she says mine is [name_f]Lux[/name_f], they are going to hear “Lucks” or worse “Licks”
I pronouce it “luks” but Im nervous people would say “looks”…I think that it sounds good together. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you ladies think [name_f]Serena[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] clashes a bit and is [name_f]Serena[/name_f] & [name_f]Violet[/name_f] better as a sibset rather than a first and middle name? Maybe a short middle name goes better with the name [name_f]Serena[/name_f]… I don’t really think of “adult film star” with [name_f]Lux[/name_f]…maybe its the ‘X’ that makes people think this?
I do think [name_f]Serena[/name_f] and [name_f]Violet[/name_f] sound a bit too similar. They have the same number of letters, and while [name_f]Violet[/name_f] is more popular, they sound like two names one may use for a sibset.
[name_f]Lux[/name_f] is a strange name. I study Latin and I should totally know that it means light, but my first thought is always the world “Luxury”. Once I force myself to remember the real meaning of the name, I find it lovely. But the problem is that I have to remind myself, and a lot of people may not know the meaning at all.
I mainly like the name becasue its unique and that people don’t expect it… also the Latin meaning “light” is wonderful to me. [name_f]My[/name_f] biggest worry is maybe it is too “out there” and people would think badly of it instead of admire it for its strangeness
And I can imagine kids making the association “[name_f]Serena[/name_f] sucks” because of the initial “S” in [name_f]Serena[/name_f]. I really don’t think that possibility is too far-fetched, unfotunately.
Well, here is part of the problem.
“Luks” rhymes with words like “sucks” and " f_cks", making it ripe for teasing.
And, yes, perhaps the “x” is part of it, as well as the fact that “[name_f]Lux[/name_f]” is 3 letters long, just like “s_x”.
With the first name beginning with an “S”, it isn’t a stretch to associate the middle name with words that start with “s”, especially since "[name_f]Lux[/name_f]" isn’t a recognizable name to most people.
Most people won’t know “[name_f]Lux[/name_f]” means “light”, so it will seem like a word, like “luxury” or “[name_u]Lexus[/name_u]”.
The name [name_f]Serena[/name_f] is so fluid and elegant, but to me, when combined with [name_f]Lux[/name_f], somehow it seems cheapened.
I think both [name_f]Serena[/name_f] and [name_f]Violet[/name_f] are beautiful, and I could easily see [name_f]Serena[/name_f] and [name_f]Violet[/name_f] as a lovely sib-set.
I actually also think [name_f]Serena[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] sounds pretty nice. It depends on your last name, as to whether it seems to flow nicely.
However, I agree with you that perhaps a shorter middle name would flow more smoothly with [name_f]Serena[/name_f]. Also, that would allow you to save [name_f]Violet[/name_f] for a second daughter.
Does it matter what initial letter the middle name starts with? Are you open to names that begin with letters other than “L” or “V”? [name_m]How[/name_m] much does the meaning of the middle name matter to you?
Here are some suggestions for shorter middle names to go with [name_f]Serena[/name_f], along with their meanings:
[name_f]Serena[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f] “grace”

[name_f]Serena[/name_f] [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] “hill”
[name_f]Serena[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f] “bright, clear” (similar to the meaning of [name_f]Lux[/name_f]: “light”!)
[name_f]Serena[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f] “fairy” or short form of “faith”
[name_f]Serena[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] “God’s gracious gift”

[name_f]Serena[/name_f] [name_u]Rae[/name_u] “ewe” (diminutive of [name_f]Rachel[/name_f])
[name_f]Serena[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] (flower name)
[name_f]Serena[/name_f] [name_f]Brielle[/name_f] (long form of [name_f]Brie[/name_f])
[name_f]Serena[/name_f] [name_f]Camille[/name_f] “young ceremonial attendant”
[name_f]Serena[/name_f] [name_f]Christine[/name_f] “anointed” or “a [name_m]Christian[/name_m]”
[name_f]Serena[/name_f] [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] “light”
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you like any of these?
It’s doesn’t matter too much about the meaning or what the middle name begins with. I just want something unique, cool and pretty but also something she won’t get teased about. I want people to say oh wow that’s a cool name I never heard of it…
Let me correct that…meaning does matter. I want something positive…I liked the middle name [name_f]Jade[/name_f] until I looked it up and read it mean “disreputable woman”…
[name_f]My[/name_f] middle name is [name_f]Marie[/name_f] so you can image how I feel about wanting her name to be unique…I don’t want her to be “just another [name_f]Marie[/name_f]”
