After much debate, my husband and I are leaning toward the name Shepherd for our 7th baby (2nd boy). It has such a quiet gentle strength to it, and I love the nickname “Shep”
We are stuck on a middle name though. our last name is similar to “Anderson”. A few combos we are considering:
Shepherd Henry
Shepherd Hugo (I’m not the biggest Hugo fan)
Or switching it and calling him by his middle (I’m not a huge fan of this though)—
Adoniram Shepherd (maybe too out there)
James Shepherd (my husband says this one is boring)
Edit
I think we either need a single-syllable middle name OR a 3-syllable. Two I’ve suggested but my husband isn’t crazy about are:
[name_m]Shepherd[/name_m] is an amazing name! I have loved it forever !! If our next babe is a boy his name will be [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m] [name_u]John[/name_u]
I am literally blind to any only option but I really like [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m] [name_m]Hugh[/name_m]
I’m going to stick with H names becaise i think you have something there and i do better narrowing down first.
[name_m]Shepherd[/name_m] [name_u]Hayes[/name_u]
[name_m]Shepherd[/name_m] [name_m]Hart[/name_m]
[name_m]Shepherd[/name_m] [name_u]Hale[/name_u]
[name_m]Shepherd[/name_m] [name_m]Harris[/name_m]
[name_m]Shepherd[/name_m] [name_m]Holmes[/name_m]
[name_m]Shepherd[/name_m] [name_m]Hughes[/name_m]
Keep it simple and you’ll end up with a really chic combo, try not to over complicate it or you’ll find it detracts from [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m] itself.
I think this is the right direction–we were originally thinking 3 syllable, but it felt like A [name_f]Lot[/name_f] of NAME, lol! [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] is one my daughter keeps bringing up.
I really like [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u], it’s a strong combination.
I find that sometimes as much as it’s incredibly tempting to throw everything at a name, less really is more.
I know someone who just called their son [name_u]River[/name_u] and they were looking at middle names like [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] and [name_u]Finnegan[/name_u], which are both fantastic names but eventually they went with [name_u]River[/name_u] [name_u]Charles[/name_u] and it is just such a lovely, well balanced name. I think it’s very easy to get carried away but I know what you mean, it can feel like a lot of name! Sometimes simplifying it can help it feel more classic and elegant, whilst still being very unique.
[name_m]Shepherd[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] has been on my list for a while. I feel [name_u]James[/name_u] only compliments the strength of [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m]
