[name_u]Spencer[/name_u] is one of my favorites! Interesting middle choices. Is there family history there?
No, just narrowing down to names hubby and I both like when our tastes are very different As [name_u]Spencer[/name_u] is fairly neutral in meaning I would prefer something with a positive meaning for a middle, eg [name_m]Milo[/name_m] or [name_m]Felix[/name_m], but these two names hubby approves. I think [name_u]Carey[/name_u] looks better in terms of curvy letters etc and I like that it’s less common, but think maybe [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] flows better by sound. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you mean ‘interesting’ as in feeling they are mismatched?
Not at all! [name_m]Just[/name_m] unexpected. I think [name_u]Spencer[/name_u] [name_u]Carey[/name_u] has a very old Hollywood feel. [name_u]Spencer[/name_u] [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] sounds strong and substantial. I think it depends on the “feel” you are going for. [name_u]Spencer[/name_u] [name_u]Carey[/name_u] really stands out to me.
[name_u]Spencer[/name_u] [name_u]Carey[/name_u] sounds a bit too Old Hollywood to me ([name_u]Spencer[/name_u] [name_u]Tracey[/name_u] and [name_u]Cary[/name_u] [name_m]Grant[/name_m]) plus it’s two names that look like surnames. I like the balance of [name_u]Spencer[/name_u] [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] better.
[name_m]Ah[/name_m] thank you both. Appreciate the perspectives
I chose [name_u]Spencer[/name_u] [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] because [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] is definitely a man’s name, while [name_u]Spencer[/name_u] has become unisex lately (although I don’t approve - I think it should have stayed a man’s name). [name_u]Carey[/name_u] can be confused with [name_f]Carrie[/name_f] so I won’t vote for a middle and first unisex name.
Both roll off the tongue nicely - I agree that [name_u]Spencer[/name_u] [name_u]Carey[/name_u] does sound “Old Hollywood” and I kinda dig that. It’s dashing, and feels more intriguing than [name_u]Spencer[/name_u] [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m], which while perfectly nice, just feels modern-prep, a popular name style these days.
[name_u]Spencer[/name_u] [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] is really handsome. It’s a great combo.
Thanks for the help people. I like the shape and flow of writing [name_u]Carey[/name_u] better than [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] but I was forgetting both [name_u]Spencer[/name_u] and [name_u]Carey[/name_u] are sometimes used on girls (having personally only ever heard them used for boys), and I agree it is best to have one name in there that clarifies gender. We will see if any other names come up that we both love, but at least for now we have A complete name we both like.
BTW, if hubby happens to warm to [name_u]Spencer[/name_u] [name_m]Felix[/name_m], any thoughts/downsides you can think of with [name_u]Spencer[/name_u] [name_m]Felix[/name_m] vs [name_u]Spencer[/name_u] [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m]?
Thanks for your help people. [name_m]Little[/name_m] one came three weeks early but prefectly healthy. So your input was just in time to make announcing him easier
