We are expecting a little girl (baby number three) end of [name_f]October[/name_f]. My husband and I have agreed on the name [name_u]Tegan[/name_u]/[name_u]Teagan[/name_u], though which spelling is still to be agreed upon. Our struggle is to find a middle name that works. We want something that’s feminine but can’t find anything that flows well.
Older siblings are
[name_m]Colin[/name_m] [name_m]Patrick[/name_m] and [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] Josephine
[name_u]Teagan[/name_u] [name_u]Nesta[/name_u]. [name_u]Nesta[/name_u] is an old Welsh name prominent in my family tree. It just jumped together with [name_u]Teagan[/name_u]. For me it is a guilty pleasure name that says WOW.
[name_u]Tegan[/name_u] vs. [name_u]Teagan[/name_u] – As both [name_m]Colin[/name_m] and [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] are five letters, I quite like that very subtle repetition with [name_u]Tegan[/name_u] as third. That said, the spelling decision may also depend on how you are pronouncing it (I’m assuming TEE-gan, for both?) as [name_u]Tegan[/name_u] may often get TEG-an, so if you want to avoid that, [name_u]Teagan[/name_u] might be best.
As for middles – names of a similar style to [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] & [name_m]Patrick[/name_m] that I think work well with [name_u]Teagan[/name_u]…
[name_f]Claire[/name_f]
[name_f]Margaret[/name_f]
[name_f]Laurel[/name_f]
[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]
[name_f]Bridget[/name_f]
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]
[name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Delilah[/name_f]
[name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f]
[name_f]Giselle[/name_f]
[name_f]Cecily[/name_f]
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f]
[name_f]Florence[/name_f]
[name_u]Eloise[/name_u]
[name_f]Audrey[/name_f]
[name_f]Rebekah[/name_f]
[name_f]Diana[/name_f]
[name_f]Isobel[/name_f]
I vote for [name_u]Tegan[/name_u] because of the 5 letters like [name_m]Colin[/name_m] and [name_u]Rowan[/name_u].
I’ve always liked [name_u]Teagan[/name_u] [name_f]Sophia[/name_f], but I feel like something a little more classic and less popular would go better with your other kids’ middles. I really like the previous suggestions of [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], [name_f]Louisa[/name_f], [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f], [name_f]Felicity[/name_f], [name_f]Georgia[/name_f], and [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]!
I like both spellings, and agree with pps about whether you would like the matching 5 letters or whether making the pronunciation quite clear is more important to you.
