At the moment this name is the only one on my list that doesn’t have a middle name.
I’m a little confused but are you asking for could you clarify the following:
- Are you asking for mn suggestions for [name_u]Vivian[/name_u]?
- Are you looking at [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] as a boys name? Which if you are I think is AWESOME - bringing it back to its origins. However, as most people do not consider it for a boy anymore and it is not listed in your signature I was unsure.
- What exactly you are hoping for, how to imagine the name or what your overall style is.
I’d really like to help out but really don’t know where to start. ([name_f]Promise[/name_f] to check back later).
For a boy?
Sorry I wasn’t clear on what my question was. I’m actually have limited internet use and was in a rush to put up a thread. I was asking for a middle name for [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] and I am already one hundred percent positive that I want to use this name for a boy. I also haven’t had the time to update my signature for over month, thanks for pointing that out, I probably would have never updated it if you haven’t.
I’m not sure how to explain my style, tbh. I should be updating my signature today. Maybe that will help.
I also love that you’re considered [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] for a boy! Definitely choose a clearly masculine middle to make it obvious he’s a boy.

Hey Noir - as promised I am back. I’ve actually had this window open on my computer since my first post but I haven’t been at home/near my computer so here goes. Super psyched to see someone reclaiming a name - awesome!
I agree with @bonfire that choosing a clearly “male name” for the combo might be good. I think it will give a future wearer the choice between [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] an something that specifies their gender - you never know who your kids might end up being and this gives them options. I however don’t think that a mn needs to be burly, warrior, testosterone filled masculine - just not a unisex name or “girls” name. You could also consider clearly masculine [name_m]Ian[/name_m] as a nn over [name_f]Vivi[/name_f] or other options.
You seem to like Biblical mn’s for boys so how about:
[name_u]Vivian[/name_u] [name_m]Jeremiah[/name_m]
[name_u]Vivian[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u]
[name_u]Vivian[/name_u] [name_m]Abel[/name_m]
[name_u]Vivian[/name_u] [name_m]Ephraim[/name_m]
[name_u]Vivian[/name_u] [name_m]Raphael[/name_m]
Other [name_u]Tristan[/name_u]/Mythology/[name_u]Legend[/name_u] inspired:
[name_u]Vivian[/name_u] [name_m]Gawain[/name_m]
[name_u]Vivian[/name_u] [name_m]Denis[/name_m]/[name_m]Dennis[/name_m]
[name_u]Vivian[/name_u] [name_u]Orion[/name_u]
[name_u]Vivian[/name_u] [name_m]Arthur[/name_m]
[name_u]Vivian[/name_u] [name_m]George[/name_m] (also great presidential link with [name_m]Abraham[/name_m])
Other [name_u]Tristan[/name_u]/popular suggestions:
[name_u]Vivian[/name_u] [name_u]Noah[/name_u] (obviously also biblical)
[name_u]Vivian[/name_u] [name_m]Jacob[/name_m] (obviously also biblical)
[name_u]Vivian[/name_u] [name_m]Ethan[/name_m]
[name_u]Vivian[/name_u] [name_m]Jackson[/name_m]
[name_u]Vivian[/name_u] [name_u]Hunter[/name_u]
Thanks! @lexiem @bonfire
I really like [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] [name_m]George[/name_m], [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] [name_m]Gawain[/name_m] (I really like the names of the Knights of the Round Table for some reason), and [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] [name_m]Arthur[/name_m].
[name_u]Vivian[/name_u] [name_m]George[/name_m] feels pretty wonderful. Using [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] on a boy is something I associate heavily with the UK, and [name_m]George[/name_m] is a name that feels very British while also being very acceptable in the US or greater Anglosphere if that’s where you are. [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] would be second. I see the appeal of [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] [name_m]Gawain[/name_m] but I think it’s too much ending in N and with [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] already being unusual for a boy, [name_m]Gawain[/name_m], while being clearly masculine, also being uncommon in a different way, is a bit much.
[name_u]Vivian[/name_u] [name_u]Lee[/name_u]
[name_f]Glad[/name_f] I could help. :). I think some of the more common knights names are a great choice for mn’s for more unusual first! If you want more just send me a PM. (I’m about 10 days out from my wedding so I’m limiting myself to about 20 minutes of NB a day).
@jesba
Yes, I can the problem with the [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] and [name_m]Gawain[/name_m] both ending in N. Which is why [name_m]Gawain[/name_m] is third on my favorite [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] middle names at the moment. I am actually considering putting [name_m]Gawain[/name_m] on my list as a first name, but I am hesitate to do so at the moment.
@lexiem
That sounds amazing. I’ll be sure to PM you soon.
I wouldn’t do [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] [name_u]Lee[/name_u]- it sounds the same as [name_u]Vivien[/name_u] [name_u]Leigh[/name_u], the actress who played [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] in Gone With the Wind! [name_u]Love[/name_u] her, but the references could get annoying… Also [name_u]Lee[/name_u] is too gender-ambiguous with already unisex [name_u]Vivian[/name_u].
