DH and I need some help. We are pretty set on the first name of [name]Quincy[/name] with a back up of [name]Delaney[/name] for our sweet little girl. But we are having a hard time with a middle name. We would really like to honor a family member and our last name is one syllable. The names of the women in the family are:
[name]Naida[/name] (grandmother who passed away last year)
[name]Linda[/name] (DH mother)
[name]Kim[/name] (my mother)
[name]Cherie[/name] (my mother’s middle name, said Shr-ee not Sh-e-ree)
But none of these seem to work with [name]Quincy[/name] or [name]Delaney[/name]. I would love to use [name]Cherie[/name], but don’t feel like it sounds nice with the “ee” endings. We would really like to honor grandma and have considered using [name]Aida[/name] instead (said [name]Ada[/name]). [name]Do[/name] you think that could work? Other options we’ve talked about which have special meanings to us are:
[name]Bela[/name] (said [name]Bella[/name], but spelled this way for other significance)
[name]Grace[/name]
[name]Nora[/name]
DH favorite is [name]Quincy[/name] [name]Aida[/name]. But I’m not sold. Any ideas or suggestions? Your help is much appreciated.
[name]Quincy[/name] I actually like this name but I’m too afraid to tell ppl I like this name! [name]Ever[/name] since I met a girl with the name [name]Quincy[/name] I’ve loved it.
[name]Quincy[/name] [name]Grace[/name] is my pick.
I think [name]Quincy[/name] [name]Naida[/name] or [name]Delaney[/name] [name]Naida[/name] works OK. If [name]Aida[/name] will honor what about [name]Nadia[/name]? [name]Quincy[/name] [name]Nadia[/name] I really like!
I’m not sure how up you are for changing the family names a bit, but what about incorporating [name]Linda[/name] in a name like [name]Rosalind[/name], [name]Rosalinda[/name], or [name]Celinda[/name]?
[name]Quincy[/name] [name]Grace[/name] sounds the best, but it’s a bit boring. I actually don’t think [name]Quincy[/name] [name]Cherie[/name] sounds that bad.
There isn’t much difference, flow-wise, with [name]Quincy[/name] [name]Aida[/name] or [name]Naida[/name] [name]IMO[/name]. I’d probably just use your grandmother’s name there. [name]Quincy[/name] [name]Nadia[/name] has a whole different sound. I really like that, if you consider it after g-ma, which I do. Your dh’s pick of [name]Quincy[/name] [name]Aida[/name] is quite pretty.
[name]Delaney[/name] [name]Kimberlyn[/name] after both moms is lovely, or simply [name]Delaney[/name] [name]Kimber[/name] after [name]Kim[/name]. There is also [name]Delaney[/name] [name]Cher[/name].
You might also consider [name]Quincy[/name] [name]Nadine[/name].
I like [name]Quincy[/name] [name]Grace[/name], though I do agree with rj that it is a bit boring to the ear. Next best is [name]Quincy[/name] [name]Aida[/name]
I don’t really like the sound of [name]Quincy[/name] with any of the others (I’m a very sound oriented person and if a name doesn’t flow right out of my mouth I find it hard to like)
I like the suggestion of [name]Kimberlyn[/name], or [name]Kimberlin[/name], for a middle both for [name]Quinn[/name] and [name]Delaney[/name].
Other ideas:
[name]Quincy[/name] [name]Cheryl[/name]
[name]Quincy[/name] [name]Cherilyn[/name]
[name]Quincy[/name] [name]Honora[/name]
I think both [name]Quincy[/name] [name]Cher[/name] or [name]Delaney[/name] [name]Cher[/name] would work nice and be a nice way to honor your family member. [name]Cher[/name] would be a really cool alternative to all the one syllable filler names many put in the middle. [name]Delaney[/name] [name]Cher[/name] is great, with [name]Quincy[/name] [name]Cher[/name] you could argue that there’s too much “sh” sound going on. I don’t think this is a big problem is you really want to use some form of [name]Cherie[/name]… but based purely on flow I’d go for [name]Quincy[/name] [name]Grace[/name] or [name]Delaney[/name] [name]Cher[/name]. Best of luck
[name]Grace[/name] is the one that stands out most for me with either of the names. [name]Naida[/name] or [name]Aida[/name] is my second favorite, but I like the solidity of [name]Grace[/name]! Gorgeous.
I like [name]Quincy[/name] [name]Grace[/name] & [name]Quincy[/name] [name]Bela[/name]. If u want to pay homage to a relative u could look at other names with the same meaning. I’m a lynda which means beautiful or pretty. You could find other names with same meaning maybe.
[name]Quincy[/name] [name]Grace[/name] is my favorite of what you suggested. If you want to use [name]Cherie[/name] then go with [name]Delaney[/name] [name]Cherie[/name].
[name]Quincy[/name] [name]Grace[/name] is my favorite from your list. I also like [name]Quincy[/name] [name]Naida[/name] or [name]Quincy[/name] [name]Nadia[/name] and the sugggestion of [name]Quincy[/name] [name]Rosalind[/name] above.
Some other possibilities that are “combined” honoring:
[name]Quincy[/name] [name]Nola[/name]
[name]Quincy[/name] [name]Lola[/name]
[name]Quincy[/name] [name]Adeline[/name]
[name]Quincy[/name] [name]Nadine[/name]
[name]Quincy[/name] [name]Cherelle[/name]
[name]Quincy[/name] Chereen
[name]Quincy[/name] [name]Nicolette[/name] (has all the sounds or letters of N, L, K, C)
[name]Quincy[/name] [name]Linnea[/name]
[name]Quincy[/name] [name]Lynette[/name]
Thanks for all of your help. I’m seeing a lot of likes towards [name]Quincy[/name] [name]Grace[/name], that was our first love with [name]Quincy[/name], but it didn’t have as much sentimental meaning for us. I do like [name]Delaney[/name] [name]Cherie[/name], maybe that will be our second choice. I think DH is still stuck on [name]Quincy[/name] [name]Aida[/name], which is growing on me.
