Middle Name Help?

My hubby and I are planning to TTC in [name_f]September[/name_f].
We have our boy name picked out already, but we are stuck between two different names for girls, [name_u]Winter[/name_u] and [name_f]Willow[/name_f].
[name_u]Winter[/name_u] is my absolute favorite and I [name_f]ADORE[/name_f] it, especially with the idea of the nickname “[name_f]Winnie[/name_f].” However, the “er” ending and the fact that [name_m]Tucker[/name_m] ends the same way just throws me off. [name_u]Winter[/name_u] (nickname) [name_m]Tucker[/name_m] might sound adorable, but [name_u]Winter[/name_u] [name_m]Tucker[/name_m], as much as I love it, sounds choppy.
[name_f]Willow[/name_f] I don’t love quite as much as [name_u]Winter[/name_u], but I like the way it flows with [name_m]Tucker[/name_m] better.

Middle names tentatively picked out are [name_u]Winter[/name_u] [name_f]Annalise[/name_f] and [name_f]Willow[/name_f] Lyanna

The child will also have a sister (currently 3) named [name_u]Piper[/name_u] [name_f]Isabella[/name_f], if that offers any inspiration.

Anybody have any ideas that might sway me toward one name or the other?? Thank you!!

It sounds to me like you prefer [name_u]Winter[/name_u], so I’d suggest going for that. [name_u]Winter[/name_u] [name_f]Annalise[/name_f] and [name_u]Piper[/name_u] [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] sound just like sisters. Also, I’m assuming [name_u]Piper[/name_u]'s surname is [name_m]Tucker[/name_m], too? If the ‘er’ ending of her name doesn’t bother you, then I don’t see why [name_u]Winter[/name_u]'s should either.

[name_u]Winter[/name_u] [name_f]Annalise[/name_f] is beautiful!!

It does bother me, lol. And she’s not my birthchild, she’s from my husband’s mistake marriage, so I didn’t have a part in naming her.

I love [name_f]Willow[/name_f] and I do agree it sounds better with your surname. I actually really like [name_f]Willow[/name_f] [name_f]Annalise[/name_f] as a combination. If you want [name_f]Winnie[/name_f], would you consider using [name_u]Wynne[/name_u] or [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] as the given name?

Other ideas:
[name_f]Willow[/name_f] [name_u]Meredith[/name_u]
[name_f]Willow[/name_f] [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f]
[name_f]Willow[/name_f] [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]
[name_f]Willow[/name_f] [name_f]Miranda[/name_f]
[name_f]Willow[/name_f] [name_f]Cassandra[/name_f]
[name_f]Willow[/name_f] [name_f]Juliette[/name_f]
[name_f]Willow[/name_f] [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Willow[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_f]Willow[/name_f] [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]

You know, I actually hadn’t even considered [name_f]Willow[/name_f] [name_f]Annalise[/name_f]. I’ll have to bring that one up to the hubby lol. He’s pushing for Lyanna because it combines his father’s name ([name_u]Lee[/name_u]) with my sister’s middle name, [name_f]Anna[/name_f] (pronounced On-uh)

Both are beautiful names but I do see that [name_f]Willow[/name_f] works better with your last name.

Both lovely names but I wouldn’t use a name which doesn’t work well with the surname no matter how much I loved it. So [name_f]Willow[/name_f] [name_f]Annalise[/name_f] for me.

I think [name_u]Winter[/name_u] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] or [name_u]Winter[/name_u] [name_u]Leigh[/name_u] would sound nice!
It sounds like you really want the name [name_f]Winnie[/name_f]. Could you consider names like [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] or [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] which could also be shortened to [name_f]Winnie[/name_f]?

Thank you!

My children’s surname is also a two-syllable, rather abrupt name ending in -er, so I feel your pain–my daughter would have 100% have been [name_u]Winter[/name_u] if it didn’t sound so choppy with the last name ([name_u]Winter[/name_u] was my favorite and my grandmother’s favorite name, and my daughter was named after my grandmother).

I have to say, now that I’m on the other side, there is a (very small and fleeting) part of me that regrets not using [name_u]Winter[/name_u], and I don’t think [name_u]Winter[/name_u] ___er sounds so bad.

But, if you were you, I might not use it simply because her sister’s name will be [name_u]Piper[/name_u]. I’d probably use [name_f]Willow[/name_f] before [name_u]Winter[/name_u], because I wouldn’t want to put myself into a pattern that I wasn’t sure I would be able to continue (girl names ending in -er).

I really like [name_f]Willow[/name_f] anyway, it’s beautiful, and [name_f]Willow[/name_f] Lyanna flows very well. I don’t know what your boy name is, but I think [name_u]Piper[/name_u] and [name_f]Willow[/name_f] are perfect sister names!

Thank you!! I also really like the boyish nickname “[name_m]Will[/name_m]” honestly… I was a [name_m]MAJOR[/name_m] tomboy… overalls, worms, frogs, bugs, mud and everything. I’m REALLY hoping that any daughters I have follow suit. [name_f]Willow[/name_f] is definitely growing on me over [name_u]Winter[/name_u] these last few days.

[name_f]Willow[/name_f] nn [name_m]Will[/name_m] is GREAT! Please use it, because I can’t use any of these names, (we have several [name_m]Will[/name_m] names already), so I shall live vicariously through you over the internet.
