Middle name help!

Getting closer to delivery, but haven’t locked down a middle name. I want [name_m]Hastings[/name_m] my last name, and my husband is hesitant because it “sounds like a last name”. Vote below and suggest a few others. Going for a strong meaning, fairly uncommon, more than one syllable and preferably doesn’t end in N. A few below do end in N because we are struggling! [name_m]Oy[/name_m].
It is a rainbow baby

[name_m]Penn[/name_m] [name_m]Hastings[/name_m]
[name_m]Penn[/name_m] [name_m]Landry[/name_m]
[name_m]Penn[/name_m] [name_m]Holden[/name_m]
[name_m]Penn[/name_m] [name_m]Hartigan[/name_m]
[name_m]Penn[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m]

[name_m]Penn[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] is such a debonair yet fitting name for now.

I love [name_m]Penn[/name_m] [name_m]Hastings[/name_m]! [name_f]My[/name_f] dads bff is named [name_m]Hastings[/name_m], so it definitely works as a “name” imo.

I think [name_m]Penn[/name_m] [name_m]Hartigan[/name_m] also sounds really great, and it would be my second pick, with [name_m]Penn[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] as a non-ending-in-N middle

[name_m]Penn[/name_m] [name_m]Hastings[/name_m] is so handsome, I love it! Sounding like a surname doesn’t seem like a huge issue to me, especially since the middle spot is a place to be creative or honor family – and I love how [name_m]Hastings[/name_m] honors you.

Using last names in the first and middle spots are a lot more socially acceptable now since that’s a naming trend, so I personally think [name_m]Hastings[/name_m] would make a great and very special middle name!

[name_m]Penn[/name_m] [name_m]Hastings[/name_m] gets my vote!

I like:

Penn Hastings - Hastings is such an evocative, historical name. It would be my first choice for sure (and also because I think it’s nice if the mother can get a nod in there somewhere!).

I’d otherwise go for Penn Alexander or Penn Landry. But I think the bias should be towards Hastings.

The other names seem to compete with (but not quite match up to) Penn with the N endings (which I guess is the reason you’re not sure about them either).

Otherwise (but I’d still choose Hastings):

Penn Ambrose
Penn Rafferty
Penn Theodore
Penn Xavier
Penn Christopher

Yes, he is! And currently there is no one to carry on the [name_m]Hastings[/name_m] name. I think my husband will cave when he sees how much love [name_m]Hastings[/name_m] gets

I think [name_m]Hastings[/name_m] works great! Especially because it means so much to you. [name_f]My[/name_f] son has a surname first name and we’ve gotten a lot of compliments on it. I think it works well for boys and it’d fit nicely as a middle name for [name_m]Penn[/name_m]

[name_m]Penn[/name_m] [name_m]Hastings[/name_m]

[name_m]Penn[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] for me!

Almost thinking [name_m]Hastings[/name_m] nn [name_m]Hayes[/name_m] could be the first name but obv don’t want to push your luck! I love the name. Should get a mention at least in that second spot!

I LOVE the name [name_m]Penn[/name_m] so much! I think [name_m]Penn[/name_m] [name_m]Hastings[/name_m] sounds absolutely perfect.

In my culture, children always have their mother’s surname in their names (we have two surnames, basically). Nowadays, parents often dismiss a middle name because they prefer shorter full names. So, the children have their first names, followed by their maternal surname and their paternal surname. I’m a strong supporter of this choice because a baby is a part of both sides of the family.
That being said, Penn Hastings is my favorite choice for you! It’s meaningful, uncommon, it flows well and it doesn’t end in N.
Penn Hartigan would be my second choice. It’s unique and has a nice meaning.
