Middle name "Islander"?

What do you think of this middle name- is it too much or too strange?

We also like [name_f]Isla[/name_f] but are leaning toward a one syllable first name now (J@ne) and like the flow a little better.

Does it work? Any other longer names with a beachy vibe… Preferably without a “y” or “ie” ending??

Anyone care to share their opinion?

I like it! The definitely uncommon Islander brings out the beauty of classic [name_f]Jane[/name_f] - J@ne Islander has a really nice sound.

Islander paints a beautiful picture. J@ne Islander is a lovely combo.

I can’t see it as a name. In my area, [name_m]Pacific[/name_m] Islanders are sometimes referred to as Islanders, so it’d be like somebody naming their baby Hispanic or [name_f]Asian[/name_f].

Thanks guys.

[name_f]Pansy[/name_f]- good to know- something to consider. Where do you live?

Ps- does [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Isla[/name_f] flow ok? I can’t tell if it’s too choppy…

[name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Isla[/name_f] would work, but [name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] does flow better. I too agree that Islander is a little much as a name.

It is a lot as a name but as a middle name? I mean it is shorter that saying [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]… [name_f]Do[/name_f] you mean a little much in meaning or that it implies something? Thanks!

Sorry I should of expressed that better. It feels a little too “wordy” to me instead of a name. As someone mentioned, I think of a person who lives on an island or a [name_m]Pacific[/name_m] islander.

I agree it makes me thing of people who live on an island. And some cultured identify themselves as islanders. I know people are using locations more as names such as [name_u]London[/name_u], [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u], and [name_f]Asia[/name_f], but I don’t know about using a reference to a group of people like that ass a middle. But if is meaningful to you and something you and your partner love, that’s the number one thing. I do love the name [name_f]Isla[/name_f]. My sister in law was also looking for a beachy name and settled on Playa, which means beach in Spanish. Good luck!

Thank you for your feedback

I don’t live in an area with a large [name_m]Pacific[/name_m] Islander population, so I don’t have a good sense of whether it would be offensive to that group to use Islander as a middle name. To me it feels more like “person from an island”, which could refer to whatever island is near you and could refer either to a person actually being from whatever island or a person whose ancestors are from whatever island. I kind of like it actually, as a middle name! I agree that [name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] flows better than [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Isla[/name_f] does, and also that [name_f]Isla[/name_f] and [name_f]Jane[/name_f] are both great names. [name_f]Jane[/name_f] Islander Surname works pretty well to me aesthetically.

I also think of [name_m]Pacific[/name_m] Islanders. I think if you love [name_f]Isla[/name_f], use it and don’t worry about the length.
