Hi berries, PLEASE read this part before voting!! Otherwise please don’t vote!
You guys were so helpful with my last post in deciding on a first name.
Now onto middles.
I think we’ve narrowed it down to Alirah Fern
Or Alirah Whitney. Here’s the dilemma:
Alirah Fern: my middle name is Willow and growing up every time I saw a willow tree it felt like it belonged to me in a way and I would love to give my daughter that same sort of association with nature. Seriously such a special feeling, I love nature names and Alirah Fern also hits the “aesthetically pleasing/sounding” note for me.
Alirah Whitney: my best friends name is Whitney, she’s also really good friends with my husband which out of my close friends, she’s the only one connected to both of us. I feel like it would be so special to surprise honor her in this way and I’m not planning on having another kid so here is my chance to do so. I feel like that would be so awesome to do! I would love for my daughter and her to share something special like that.
But part of is like well I can middle name her Fern and get a chicken and name it Whitney?? Though that definitely wouldn’t be as special!!
Okay, based on this info, please vote!
Thank you guys so much.
Alirah is pronounced “uh-leer-uh”
Would Alirah Whitney Fern be an option? If not, I think Alirah Fern would be more special for your daughter personally, whereas Alirah Whitney would be moreso for you and your friend.
Congratulations and both names are lovely. I feel like this middle name choice is a super personal choice for you. Either you want to honor your friend or give your daughter the same nature tie as you have. Either is special! Ultimately, I voted for Alirah [name_u]Fern[/name_u] because it feels like it’s the one that pulls you the most. You can’t wrong with either, do what feels right to you!
I voted on [name_u]Fern[/name_u], only because I feel like either it can put pressure on your kid to be like them, or it’s not going to end up being special to your kid the way you feel/maybe your child won’t feel a connection to this person, or maybe this person wouldn’t feep comfortable with it, especially if there is ever a falling out. It can just be awkward. Your friend already knows she’s special to you, so I would go with the nature tradition you really want to do, like a mother daughter nature theme
I chose [name_u]Fern[/name_u] because while honoring your friend is really sweet and for you and your friend and reinforces your friendship, I think your daughter will cherish the connexion with nature as well as the special link it creates between you and her. I think it’ll probably be more significant for her.
I also think Alirah [name_u]Whitney[/name_u] [name_u]Fern[/name_u] would be a good way to get the best of both!
Alternatively, what about asking your friend for nature name suggestions? That way you can hopefully get the aesthetic you’re looking for and it will feel connected to your friend
I would go with [name_u]Fern[/name_u]. It’s honestly a hard to think about but if for any reason your relationship or hubby’s relationship with the best friend soured then you’d be left with the middle. Whereas the [name_u]Fern[/name_u] and [name_u]Willow[/name_u] connection would be a unshakable lasting connection.
First of all, congratulations!
Honestly both names have their positive aspects and both sound amazing. Personally, I would go for best of both worlds and do Alirah [name_u]Whitney[/name_u] [name_u]Fern[/name_u].
I really like the [name_u]Willow[/name_u] and [name_u]Fern[/name_u] connection between mother and daughter!
Ok, I may be crazy but have you considered… Alirah [name_u]Willow[/name_u]? I love the flow and obviously it connects to nature, your name, and shares the W with [name_u]Whitney[/name_u].
