Middle name question

So, we decided on [name]Isadora[/name] for a girl. The only problem with this is that we had thrown out the potential of using [name]Lilia[/name] as the first name to my dh’s mom to see if she’d find that to be a good thing. Her name, [name]Susan[/name], means’s lily and I thought it was be a neat way to honor her.

She agreed.

Then, some good friends of ours had a daughter and named her [name]Lillian[/name] and [name]James[/name] decided it was off the list.

The problem: We’ve already mentioned to [name]MIL[/name] we wanted to include her somehow.

Solution: Find a way to still do that.

We were going to use [name]Lilia[/name] in the first name spot and then something from my mom in the middle. Now, we need to use something from both of them in the middle. [name]Both[/name] of my boys have 2 middle names, but [name]Ekaterina[/name] only has one. I don’t think she will really feel left out, but I’m sure that will get brought up.

Here are the options.

[name]MIL[/name]

[name]Lilia[/name] (see above)
[name]Kay[/name] ([name]MIL[/name]'s middle name)

My mom

[name]Frances[/name] (Mom’s middle name)
[name]Monet[/name] (Mom’s maiden name was Monette)

So, we have:

[name]Isadora[/name] [name]Kay[/name] [name]Frances[/name]
[name]Isadora[/name] [name]Lilia[/name] [name]Frances[/name]
[name]Isadora[/name] [name]Lilia[/name] [name]Monet[/name]
[name]Isadora[/name] [name]Frances[/name] [name]Kay[/name]

Or something even more abstract like

[name]Isadora[/name] Marlily (My mom’s first name is [name]Marlene[/name])
[name]Isadora[/name] Lilimar

I don’t like the -ette sound of my mom’s maiden name. It is originally French though and the pronunciation would be [name]Monet[/name] like the artist.

Any thoughts?

[name]Isadora[/name] [name]Lily[/name] [name]Monet[/name]

[name]Isadora[/name] Marilia (smoosh [name]Marlene[/name] and [name]Lilia[/name])

[name]Isadora[/name] [name]Fay[/name] ([name]Frances[/name] and [name]Kay[/name] combined)

[name]Isadora[/name] [name]Kaylene[/name]
[name]Isadora[/name] [name]Lilith[/name] [name]Monet[/name]

[name]Just[/name] throwing them out there!

My favourite combo is [name]Isadora[/name] [name]Lilia[/name] [name]Monet[/name]. But I think you should consider [name]Isadora[/name] [name]Lily[/name] [name]Monet[/name]. I think it works better, as far as flow, and you’ve still maintained the sound of the name, and the meaning. I think [name]Isadora[/name] [name]Lily[/name] [name]Monet[/name] is a fantastic name!!

Thanks! Yes, the -a ending on [name]Lilia[/name] with the -a ending on [name]Isadora[/name] together were bothering me a bit too. I just love [name]Lilia[/name] on it’s own. I agree though, maybe changing that to [name]Lily[/name] would be better.

I don’t like [name]Kaylene[/name] or [name]Fay[/name] at all. Very dated sounding to me.

So, I will definitely keep [name]Isadora[/name] [name]Lily[/name] Money up for consideration and ask DH about it.

[name]Isadora[/name] [name]Lily[/name] [name]Monet[/name] is gorgeous! Two thumbs up from me!

I agree with the suggestion of [name]Isadora[/name] [name]Lily[/name] [name]Monet[/name]. If not that, then [name]Isadora[/name] [name]Lilia[/name] [name]Monet[/name], for sure! I love both.

agreed  love this combo

I prefer [name]Isadora[/name] [name]Lillia[/name] [name]Monet[/name]. There are way too many [name]Lily[/name]'s around. [name]Monet[/name] is such a beautiful name!

I love the use of [name]Monet[/name]! My favorite combo is [name]Isadora[/name] [name]Lily[/name] (or [name]Lillia[/name]) [name]Monet[/name]
I like [name]Fay/name but I’m not a fan of [name]Kay[/name]… [name]Frances[/name] is okay but the [name]Lillia[/name] [name]Monet[/name] combo is great.

I like [name]Isadora[/name] [name]Lilia[/name] [name]Monet[/name] and [name]Isadora[/name] [name]Lilia[/name] [name]Frances[/name]. Another exotic consideration that I’ll throw out is Lillemor ("[name]Little[/name] Mother") if you’re still on the fence about [name]Lilia[/name].

Thanks for the input. I definitely think I prefer [name]Monet[/name] in honor of my mom over [name]Frances[/name]. Now I just need to decide if it works best with [name]Lilia[/name] or [name]Lily[/name]. I appreciate the suggestions. Thanks.

I think the name order would work better as:

[name]Lily[/name] [name]Isadora[/name] [name]Monet[/name]
or
[name]Lilia[/name] [name]Isadora[/name] [name]Monet[/name]

You could still call her anything you like.

[name]Lilia[/name]/[name]Lily[/name] and [name]Monet[/name] are such wonderful names (I would just scratch [name]Kay[/name] off the list since it can not compare). [name]Frances[/name] is a very underused name. I know what you mean about [name]Lilia[/name] being so beautiful. Are you sure that name has to be off your first name list?

Yes. [name]Lilia[/name] was on our our first name list at one time but really good family friends just named their daugter [name]Lillian[/name] and [name]James[/name] (dh) will not use it as a first name. Made me so sad because it had been on our list since I was pregnant with our second, over 7 years ago. :frowning:
