We are planning to give our baby girl the middle name [name_u]Shawn[/name_u] after my FIL who recently passed away. I am completely happy with [name_u]Shawn[/name_u] as a unisex name. My struggle is that it always sounds a bit clunky as a middle name. I don’t want to have a unisex or masculine first name since [name_u]Shawn[/name_u] already fits that bill. I also love love love double first or middle names, but again, not sure if that really works with the name [name_u]Shawn[/name_u]. Any thoughts on first names for a girl that sound good with [name_u]Shawn[/name_u]?
Edit: This edit is mostly because I am so new to the forum that I am not sure if the reply feature notifies everyone who has contributed or not. So sorry for the repeat because this same thing can be found below.
"These are all great suggestions. I really like the idea of a double-first name that includes Shawn in the first name or with Shawn as the middle name. The tricky thing is that our last names are pretty long and we may hyphenate for Baby (though we haven’t fully decided yet). A couple names we have been considering because they have some family roots and I also like the possible nickname options for some of them:
Cora Shawn (could be double first or first and middle)
CoraJean Shawn
Rosalena “Lena” Shawn
Jolene Cora Shawn
We also have Shannon and Cora Henri at the top of our list of I feel like Shannon Shawn is too much Sh-Sh sound, and I worry with Cora Henri that Henri+Shawn is too masculine.
Any (kind) thoughts would be greatly appreciated! We haven’t talked with family much about this. It seems like the closer people are to you sometimes the more harsh they are with their feedback, lol. I’d hate to get a lot of harsh feedback from family and friends on a name that we might actually end of using so I appreciate this forum!"
[name_u]Shawn[/name_u] would be great in the middle and especially as it is so meaningful to you. [name_u]Shawn[/name_u] would flow nicely with so many first names but I would be less concerned with that than the flow of the first name with your last name. What style of names do you gravitate towards, or sounds and how many syllables in your last name, to help us make useful suggestions? A mix of classic and modern…
