I’m having a baby girl in a little over a month. I’ve chosen [name_f]Stella[/name_f] which is a family name, but am still searching for a middle name. Last month my older daughter was killed in a car accident. Her name was [name_u]Haley[/name_u] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] but her nickname was Bug. My son suggested [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] (like junebug and the last month we were all together). I have a [name_m]Weston[/name_m] [name_m]Hawk[/name_m], [name_f]Norah[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f], [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_u]Simone[/name_u], and [name_m]Miles[/name_m] [name_m]Augustus[/name_m]. Any other suggestions for a middle name for [name_f]Stella[/name_f]?
Im sorry to hear about your loss.
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] is nice
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Holly[/name_f]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_u]Halle[/name_u]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] Aylee
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Elise[/name_f]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_u]Hadley[/name_u]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Elspeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Beth[/name_f]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Hattie[/name_f]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] actually goes really well together, never heard that combination before. Its sweet.
I also like [name_f]Stella[/name_f] Bug, I’ve never really said my middle name throughout my life. It seemed important and means alot to you. So your family could just call her Bug.
I’m sorry for your loss.
So sorry for your loss.
I think [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] is perfect for you.
Sorry for your loss. Deepest condolence
I really like [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u]. Very nice name.
It’s a cute way of honoring your late daughter.
I am so sorry for your loss.
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] is a wonderful idea and flows beautifully.

Other ideas…
[name_f]Bethany[/name_f]
[name_f]Hayley[/name_f]
[name_f]Kayley[/name_f]
[name_f]Vanessa[/name_f] (means butterfly)
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u]
[name_f]Juno[/name_f]
[name_f]Juni[/name_f]
If I think of some more I will post more.
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] is beautiful.
[name_m]Just[/name_m] a thought - carrying the name of a sibling that was tragically lost may be heavy for her, and for the whole family.
Would you consider a name that connotes happiness/appreciation for her birth (obviously in light of the loss, but it goes without saying) rather than the sweet remembrance of the sister that was?
I’m so sorry for your loss.
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] is lovely and meaningful. My first thought was [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f]: [name_f]Lily[/name_f] being a variant of [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and to me always associated with [name_f]Spring[/name_f] and rebirth and more light–maybe something to consider.
Any suggestions along those lines?
You need to welcome your little [name_f]Stella[/name_f] in her own right. Please do not name her after her big sister. Did your daughter [name_u]Haley[/name_u] have a favourite name that SHE liked. A doll, teddy bear,. I feel that would be a better was to go.
I’m so sorry
I went to high school with a girl by that name who was also tragically killed in a crash. Its devastating.
What about simply [name_m]Hale[/name_m]?
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_m]Hale[/name_m] is cute, I think. Or you could go alternative routes, such as names that mean “memory” or “honor.”
[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f]? “[name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m] believed that this Latin name meaning “sea dew” was “for remembrance” - and rosemary is indeed believed to aid memory. It is also used, with the poppy, as a symbol to remember those who are lost in conflict.”
Here are some other flowery/nature ideas. Some are better than others, but just thought I’d throw them out there anyway.
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] (although poppies are traditionally symbols of remembrance for war veterans)
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Pansy[/name_f] (pansies signify thoughtfulness and resemblance)
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Zinnia[/name_f] (zinnias serve as reminders to never forget absent friends. Sisters are, in a way, the best friends a lot of us girls will ever have)
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] Chamomile (energy in adversity)
I couldn’t find much for names meaning “memory.” Here are some meaning “honor” though. Some of them are loosely meaning honor, others prominently.
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Annora[/name_f]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Athalie[/name_f]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Judith[/name_f]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Briana[/name_f] (or [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Brianne[/name_f], if you don’t like the double -a)
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Esme[/name_f] (this one more so means esteemed or beloved)
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Merida[/name_f] (“one who has achieved a high place of honor”)
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] (a spin off the one above)
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Mireille[/name_f] (meer-yay, to admire)
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] Ehren ([name_m]German[/name_m] name meaning honorable)
My suggestion is [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_u]Angel[/name_u]–a lovely way to honor her big sister.
I like your son’s suggestion of [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u].
[name_f]Susan[/name_f]
First let me offer my condolences for your tragic loss.
Second, I must confess I’m a little torn on this. I think it’s great to want to honor your first born by passing down her name/ nickname to your newborn. And [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] is a sweet adorable way to do that. But some people my argue that it may be a bad omen to pass those tragic memories on.
I’m not sure how I feel. But ultimately it’s not up to me. You and your family have to do what you feel comfortable with. And I was guess you have already decided to honor your daughter by passing down her name.
Did [name_u]Haley[/name_u] have a favorite bug? I love ladybugs. Any bug name would also work as a middle.
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Cricket[/name_f]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] Ladybug
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Bee[/name_f]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Butterfly[/name_f] or [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Vanessa[/name_f] (butterfly)
I think your son’s suggestion of [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] is very well thought out. Only the family will know how much the name [name_u]June[/name_u] means as a remembrance of Bug and of the month. This is so much better than giving her one of her sister’s actual names which connects the sorrow of your loss to this new little one in the eyes of everyone else.
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] is a beautiful name and when she’s older you can tell her how special her name really is to all of you. [name_m]Even[/name_m] the name [name_f]Stella[/name_f] is a heavenly connection.
I am so sorry for your loss.
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] is perfect, imo. The connection is subtle and very meaningful. I say just use this one.
