I have been and forever will be a massive Tolkien fan (visited hobbiton, read the books, know his biography etc.)
I’ve always used the name Kementári for my screen names but I’ve never thought of using it in real life. It means [name_f]Queen[/name_f] of the [name_f]Earth[/name_f] in one of Tolkien’s [name_m]Elven[/name_m] languages.
It still feels unusable; however how do you all feel about the name [name_f]Yavanna[/name_f]? It’s the real name of the being who was called “[name_f]Queen[/name_f] of the [name_f]Earth[/name_f]”
Also [name_f]Yvonne[/name_f] is a family name (my sisters middle and great-grandmas) so I feel like it’s close enough to be two honors?
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you think it would fit with any of the following?
I agree that Kementári is unusable, although it does sound super cool.
Yavanna is so pretty! It would be so perfect as a honor name for [name_f]Yvonne[/name_f], too. And the meaning!!
I like [name_f]Yavanna[/name_f] [name_u]Juniper[/name_u], [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Yavanna[/name_f], & [name_f]Yavanna[/name_f] [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]. [name_f]Yavanna[/name_f] [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] is probably my favorite.
I feel like [name_f]Yavanna[/name_f] is such a new gem! I’m so surprised by it!
Yay! I’m glad you like it. I love when they pop up out of nowhere (seemingly). I’m loving [name_f]Yavanna[/name_f] [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] and [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Yavanna[/name_f] about the same level! It’d probably be easier to get by my SO as [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Yavanna[/name_f]. He likes meaningful middle names (check) but prefers more “common but less known”
First names!
Yavanna definitely fits with your names listed! I kinda like it, I can hear someone introducing her - “[name_f]Yavanna[/name_f], like [name_f]Savanna[/name_f] but with a Y”
Kementari is very interesting! But it feels a bit elaborate compared to your other names listed. Also, accents are often dropped on official documents and all that, but if it’s really important for you to include it, I understand that. I also can’t think of a really solid nickname for this, since it’s so long. I like [name_f]Cami[/name_f] ([name_f]Kami[/name_f], in this case) but it’s a bit of a stretch. Kemi? Kema? I’m not sure.
I agree with @Harvest-Endellion that there is not a lot that is off-limits for a middle name. I also think giving more than one middle can give a future child options, for example they could carry one middle name down if they wish to but not the other. Middles are so useful. I gave my son a very unusual name ([name_u]Beck[/name_u]) that did not get a good reception from anyone (almost two decades ago) and to offset this I gave him two middles which were more conventional so that he could go by these if he wanted to. (It all worked out very well and he likes his name. Popular culture is deciding it is more ‘in’ lately too )
