Middle names are hard!!! 3 wks left

Hubby and I FINALLY have agreed on a compromise name ([name_m]Gideon[/name_m]) and at 3 weeks left, I actually am starting to love it. [name_m]Even[/name_m] though this entire pregnancy I have strongly felt this baby to be [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m], I cannot get hubby to agree.
Now after struggling with a first name for so long, we have no clue on the middle name!!
I feel like a middle name should have some type of meaning or significance to us and not just a random name.
Our two daughters’ middles are [name_f]Faith[/name_f] and [name_f]Grace[/name_f]. I’d like to continue the theme with a virtue name for a boy but hubby isn’t keen on the options (ie: [name_m]Chance[/name_m], [name_m]Worth[/name_m]…).

We also aren’t too keen on using hubby’s first name, [name_m]Matthew[/name_m] as a middle bc it [name_m]Gideon[/name_m] [name_m]Matthew[/name_m] sounds overly biblical (even though we are [name_m]Christian[/name_m]).

Does [name_m]Gideon[/name_m] [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] sound awful? Last name is 2 syllable ending in er. Hubby vetoed it of course straightaway.

If I can’t get [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] into this name somehow then I am looking for at least a one syllable name bc I like the flow of a one syllable middle name following a 3 syllable first name as with both of our girls.
Any help appreciated.

I don’t think [name_m]Gideon[/name_m] [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] sounds bad at all! Though, maybe it’s a mild mouthful! I personally like that idea of a virtue type name, or at least something with one syllable to relax the tongue when saying your son’s fist name haha! Here’s a few…

[name_m]Gideon[/name_m] [name_m]Cole[/name_m]
[name_m]Gideon[/name_m] [name_u]Chase[/name_u]
[name_m]Gideon[/name_m] [name_u]Beau[/name_u]
[name_m]Gideon[/name_m] [name_m]Nash[/name_m]
[name_m]Gideon[/name_m] [name_m]Ace[/name_m]
[name_m]Gideon[/name_m] [name_u]Cade[/name_u]
[name_m]Gideon[/name_m] [name_u]Drew[/name_u]
[name_m]Gideon[/name_m] [name_u]Seth[/name_u]
[name_m]Gideon[/name_m] [name_u]West[/name_u]
[name_m]Gideon[/name_m] [name_m]Teague[/name_m]
[name_m]Gideon[/name_m] [name_m]Rowe[/name_m]

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps!

Agree with previous poster — [name_m]Gideon[/name_m] [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] is a bit of a mouthful, but otherwise I think it sounds fine. But a short virtue name would be nice too. I know you prefer a one-syllable name, but would you and your husband be open to two-syllable names? Opens up a few more options:

[name_m]Gideon[/name_m] Brave
[name_m]Gideon[/name_m] [name_u]Justice[/name_u]
[name_m]Gideon[/name_m] [name_m]Noble[/name_m]
[name_m]Gideon[/name_m] [name_u]Pax[/name_u] or [name_m]Gideon[/name_m] [name_u]Pace[/name_u]
[name_m]Gideon[/name_m] [name_u]True[/name_u] or [name_m]Gideon[/name_m] [name_u]Truth[/name_u]
[name_m]Gideon[/name_m] [name_m]Trust[/name_m]
[name_m]Gideon[/name_m] [name_m]Valor[/name_m] (might not work with your LN)
[name_m]Gideon[/name_m] Wise
[name_m]Gideon[/name_m] Zeal

Admittedly not crazy about the sound of [name_m]Gideon[/name_m] [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] just because similar ending sounds seams to sort of make the names stand out less, they sort of compete with each other instead of flowing if that makes sense. But that’s just the opinion of a self-confessed super-picky name nerd lol. They are perfectly fine names!

What I was thinking though, since baby’s dad is dead set against [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] & baby’s sisters have virtue middles, what about middle name Revere. I know it might initially sound a little out there but the meaning of [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] is “Venerable or revered”… so this would be a cool nod to mom’s favorite name as well as continuing the virtue theme. Added patriotic bonus if you’re American lol. I think [name_m]Gideon[/name_m] Revere sounds great.

Another suggestion would be [name_u]August[/name_u], since [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] comes from the Greek translation of the [name_m]Roman[/name_m] Emperor’s title “[name_m]Augustus[/name_m].” [name_m]Gideon[/name_m] [name_u]August[/name_u] is very handsome.

And my third suggestion would be [name_m]Archer[/name_m], because St. [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] is the patron saint of archers. [name_m]Gideon[/name_m] [name_m]Archer[/name_m] is pretty cool.
