Middle names easy, first name struggle

[name_m]Hi[/name_m],
First post here, let me know if any edits are needed/suggested (I am terrible with any social media)

My DH and I are expecting our 2nd, a girl, mid-[name_u]January[/name_u]. Our son is [name_u]Barrett[/name_u] [name_m]Burl[/name_m] K----y. His nickname is [name_m]Bear[/name_m]. I love that he has a flora and fauna name.
It turns out his first name is fairly common in our area, which I’m ok with, but I generally prefer more unusual names.

The trouble I’m having is there are many names I love as middles (Alyssum, [name_u]Ember[/name_u], [name_f]Cerise[/name_f], [name_u]Derby[/name_u]) but I have trouble committing to them as firsts. The one first that we both like ([name_f]Lily[/name_f]) might be taken by a friend who is having a girl near the same time. My [name_m]SIL[/name_m] now has a dog named [name_u]Ember[/name_u] although I’ve always loved it. My DH isn’t keen on [name_f]Cerise[/name_f] as a first name.

Right now our short list is:
[name_f]Audrey[/name_f] Alyssum
[name_u]Derby[/name_u] Alyssum
[name_u]Derby[/name_u] [name_u]Ember[/name_u]
[name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_u]Ember[/name_u]

Any thoughts or suggestions much appreciated.
Thank you!

[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] & [name_f]Lily[/name_f] from your list.

Suggestions~

[name_f]Ivy[/name_f]
[name_f]Daphne[/name_f]
[name_f]Leonie[/name_f]
[name_u]Brinley[/name_u]
[name_f]Cara[/name_f]
[name_f]Lainey[/name_f]
[name_u]Harbor[/name_u]
[name_f]Mallory[/name_f]
[name_f]Aurelie[/name_f]
[name_f]Arwen[/name_f]
[name_u]Aspen[/name_u]
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f]
[name_u]Josie[/name_u]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f]
[name_f]Amber[/name_f]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f]
[name_f]Celeste[/name_f]
[name_f]Naomi[/name_f]
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u]
[name_u]Harper[/name_u]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f]
[name_u]Arden[/name_u]
[name_f]Thora[/name_f]
[name_f]Talia[/name_f]
[name_u]Emerson[/name_u]
[name_f]Sadie[/name_f]
[name_u]Story[/name_u]
[name_f]Faye[/name_f]
[name_f]Elodie[/name_f]
[name_u]Hadley[/name_u]
[name_f]Harlow[/name_f]

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps!

What about [name_u]Darby[/name_u]? [name_u]Darby[/name_u] [name_f]Cerise[/name_f] has a nice flow, though [name_f]Cerise[/name_f] isn’t quite my style.

[name_u]Darby[/name_u] [name_f]Jane[/name_f], [name_u]Darby[/name_u] [name_u]Emerson[/name_u], and [name_u]Darby[/name_u] [name_f]Celia[/name_f] may suit your style!

Could [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] [name_u]Ember[/name_u] be an option? I think that’d be perfect. [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_u]Ember[/name_u] is lovely too though and I do like [name_u]Derby[/name_u] [name_u]Ember[/name_u].

Thanks ladies! I’m not sure about [name_u]Darby[/name_u] but I will add to list and ask hubby. I like [name_f]Celeste[/name_f], [name_u]Arden[/name_u], [name_f]Elodie[/name_f], and some others suggested. Is [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] too common? [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] [name_u]Ember[/name_u] is very pretty.

I like [name_u]Barrett[/name_u] and [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] best from your list. What about [name_f]Avis[/name_f]? It means bird and you could use [name_f]Avis[/name_f] Alyssum-- that combo works really well with [name_u]Barrett[/name_u] [name_m]Burl[/name_m].

It’s not as good a match as [name_f]Avis[/name_f] since no alliteration, but thanks to your suggestion I’ve added [name_f]Mavis[/name_f] Alyssum to the list

If you want a more unusual name I would stay away from [name_f]Lilly[/name_f] and its variations as it is extremely popular right now.

Some ideas:
[name_f]Amber[/name_f]
[name_f]Opal[/name_f]
[name_f]Magnolia[/name_f]
[name_f]Tara[/name_f]
[name_f]Gaia[/name_f]
[name_f]Coral[/name_f]
[name_f]Tansy[/name_f]
[name_f]Posey[/name_f]
[name_f]Flora[/name_f]/ [name_f]Florence[/name_f]
[name_f]Primrose[/name_f]
[name_f]Mariposa[/name_f]
[name_f]Sparrow[/name_f]
[name_u]Ainsley[/name_u]

I second the suggestion of [name_f]Mavis[/name_f]

I like [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] and [name_f]Lily[/name_f] from your list.
I would ditch [name_u]Derby[/name_u] - it’s a horse race and a hat. I don’t see it as a girl’s name at all.
