Middle names for Basil

Basil is becoming more endearing to me, and I think that the ‘right’ middle name might seal the deal. These are my suggestions, DH says he’ll come up with some (we’ll see).

Bit of background:

  • Our surname is a spelling of Averie.
  • We’re British so Basil is pronounced Bah-zil.
  • Nye is a name I just really like, and a nod to the found of the NHS which is an organisation near and dear to us.
  • Colin was my grandfather’s name and it would be nice to use a family name/none of my other cousins have used it which I often think is a shame, it’s not my favourite name of the bunch as a stand alone though.
  • Ivo, a name I encountered fairly recently and really love. Not sure it works with our surname though.
  • Oren, just another name I love. Slight perk that it would be useable as a name in Japan (DH and I are learning Japanese and plan to take the children, but are not Japanese ourselves and have no intention of living there).
  • Evander, one I’ve liked for a while but I do wonder if it’s a bit ‘much’ compared to our other choices/general more minimalist taste.
  • Basil Nye
  • Basil Colin
  • Basil Ivo
  • Basil Oren
  • Basil Evander

Are you pronouncing [name_m]Basil[/name_m] like the herb (bay-sil) or like the name (Bah-zil)?

I’m in the UK so both are said Bah-zil to me! That’s how we’ll be saying it.

[name_m]Basil[/name_m] [name_m]Evander[/name_m] is great too - nicely balanced

Definitely think [name_m]Nye[/name_m] or [name_m]Ivo[/name_m].
