I am trying to think of a middle name for [name_m]Everley[/name_m]. Currently, my two favourites are [name_m]Everley[/name_m] [name_u]Eden[/name_u] and [name_m]Everley[/name_m] [name_f]Octavia[/name_f]. Some other favourites are…
I myself wouldn’t choose a vowel-starting middle after [name_m]Everley[/name_m]. So that rules out three of them. I like [name_m]Everley[/name_m] [name_f]Sansa[/name_f] the best! It flows well whereas [name_f]Cleopatra[/name_f] competes with (and trumps) [name_m]Everley[/name_m].
@eloiset I have heard that a lot, so I’m simply wondering, how come you wouldn’t use a vowel-starting middle? Is it just a personal preference or something sound-wise? And thank you for your feedback
As like a personal preference, I don’t like to pair two vowels together. For me it’s because I find it too flowy, and I don’t see myself using a name that is so soft. That’s a personal preference though, and I don’t see anything objectively “wrong” or “bad” with using two vowels! I actually really like [name_m]Everley[/name_m] [name_f]Octavia[/name_f].
That said, I also prefer [name_m]Everley[/name_m] [name_f]Sansa[/name_f]. I love [name_f]Sansa[/name_f] but I’ve never seen GoT, so I feel awkward using it lol. I think [name_m]Everley[/name_m] [name_f]Sansa[/name_f] is super cute, and such a cool name!
I live [name_m]Everley[/name_m] [name_u]Eden[/name_u]. It flows beautifully and I find that alliteration makes for a memorable name in a good way. Other suggestions…
It sounds clunky and isn’t as gratifying for the mouth to go from a vowel ending to a vowel starting. Eg [name_f]Anna[/name_f] Edwards v [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_m]Smith[/name_m] - in the first, your mouth is left gaping after [name_f]Anna[/name_f] and it’s a shambles to get to the E, and neither the first or last names gets its proper attention! I also don’t like the same letter at end running into same starting middle letter eg [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], [name_u]James[/name_u] [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] or [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f]. So given a Y is a vowel sound, I think it needs a consonant to move to (but not a Y!).
I agree that [name_f]Cleopatra[/name_f] seems to compete with [name_m]Everley[/name_m] and to be honest, I think [name_f]Octavia[/name_f] does too. They sound nice together, but it’s a lot of name. Also sounds very southern to me.
Of these choices, I quite like [name_f]Sansa[/name_f]. It is unexpected yet contrasts in a compatible way. Are you still planning on two middles? I think [name_m]Everley[/name_m] [name_f]Sansa[/name_f] [name_u]Gray[/name_u] would make for a nice balance of styles.
I like [name_m]Everley[/name_m] [name_u]Eden[/name_u] the best. I agree [name_f]Cleopatra[/name_f] and [name_f]Octavia[/name_f] sort of compete with [name_m]Everley[/name_m].
[name_m]Everley[/name_m] [name_u]Gray[/name_u] is a beautiful suggestion
I am planning on two middles, but the second one is already decided on. Otherwise I would definitely consider [name_m]Everley[/name_m] [name_f]Sansa[/name_f] [name_u]Gray[/name_u]! Thanks for your feedback
If you’re still going with [name_f]Jane[/name_f] in the third spot (sorry not be a creeper lol I just remember combos…and it’s my mn), then I like [name_f]Sansa[/name_f] here as well. I actually think using [name_f]Jane[/name_f] helps to pull off some of the longer middles, it definitely grounds [name_f]Octavia[/name_f] somehow.
Are you willing to play around with the order? Or is it firmly mn #2?
I am still using [name_f]Jane[/name_f], and it doesn’t matter whether it’s mn #1 or #2. I love having two middles with the first one being long and the second being shorter though!
