Middle Names for Guinevere

So in my last post, someone suggested [name]Guinevere[/name] - and my husband and I have since fallen in love with it. I am 99.9% certain it is our girl name, and knock on wood our 2013 baby will be a girl so I can use the name! However, I cannot think of just the right middle name.

To me, [name]Guinevere[/name] feels very much like a medieval tapestry - rich, dark, gilded - I think of deep greens and golds especially. I feel like we need a lighter and sweeter middle name to balance it out, perhaps?

I tend to like nature/floral names (as well as Gaelic-y names, though I feel [name]Guinevere[/name] is close enough on its own), but I am open to any and all suggestions, since I don’t know where to start. Thanks for your thoughts!

[name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Lake[/name]
[name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Mae[/name]
[name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Ivy[/name]
[name]Guinevere[/name] [name]June[/name]
[name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Fern[/name]
[name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Rose[/name]

I don’t feel like any of these are perfect yet, but I think you will find it. [name]Guinevere[/name] is great. I think a short middle is better since [name]Guinevere[/name] is QUITE weighty.

I agree completely on a short middle name. Thank you for the suggestions! I’ve ALWAYS loved [name]Fern[/name] quite a lot, but my husband thinks it’s too blah. Sad. I’m going to have to mull some of these over.

I love the image [name]Guinevere[/name] gives to you.

[name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Moira[/name]

For some reason [name]Lacey[/name] is the first name that came to mind…[name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Lacey[/name]. I love the suggestions of [name]Lake[/name] and [name]Rose[/name]! If you’re looking for something a little more playful, but still evoking nature and rich colours (at least for me), [name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Maple[/name] might work!

[name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Jade[/name]
[name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Shea[/name]
[name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Adele[/name]
[name]Guinevere[/name] [name]July[/name]

Something short, classic, but light, as you mentioned. Not too frivolous or they’ll clash.

[name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Claire[/name]
[name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Rose[/name]
[name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Jane[/name]
[name]Guinevere[/name] [name]May[/name]
[name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Fleur[/name]
[name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Blythe[/name]
[name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Blaise[/name]
[name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Blanche[/name]
[name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Dale[/name]
[name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Lise[/name]
[name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Maeve[/name]

Ooh! [name]Claire[/name]! I love that. It’s sweet and feminine and bright, but not too bright. For example, [name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Daisy[/name] doesn’t really work because [name]Daisy[/name] sounds too cheery for [name]Guinevere[/name]. But [name]Claire[/name] is just right.

I immediately thought, [name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Rose[/name]. I love it. I also like the suggestion of [name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Maeve[/name].

[name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Elise[/name]
[name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Joy[/name]
[name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Autumn[/name]
[name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Kay[/name]
[name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Jo[/name]
[name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Lace[/name]
[name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Pearl[/name]
[name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Grace[/name] (I thought this might be too much at first but it is growing on me after I’ve said it a few times!)
[name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Dawn[/name]
[name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Ruth[/name]
[name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Hope[/name]
[name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Jean[/name]

Plus I just noticed your name is [name]Josephine[/name] which makes [name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Jo[/name] that much cuter!

I think flow-wise, [name]Guinevere[/name] would go very well with a two-syllable middle name, emphasis on the second syllable.

[name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Felice[/name]

[name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Simone[/name]

[name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Yvette[/name]

[name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Anouk[/name]

[name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Renee[/name]

[name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Lilou[/name]

[name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Celia[/name]… that’s my first thought.

Oh I love love love it! [name]Alas[/name]…my sister’s name is [name]Jocelyn[/name]. That would be nice, except that I have four sisters, and I can just imagine the familial discord. Haha.

Thank you all for the suggestions.

I thought about listing my favorites…but I have several I love from every single person’s suggestions. I’m going to run some of these by my husband. Thanks again for the help. Great choices. I’m surprised by some of the ones I like - especially [name]Jo[/name]! I love [name]Little[/name] Women so that one really appeals.

I also love [name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Jo[/name]! Or [name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Josette[/name].

Some other ideas:
[name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Junia[/name]
[name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Kate[/name]

[name]Do[/name] you intend to use any nicknames for [name]Guinevere[/name] (i.e. [name]Gwen[/name], [name]Eve[/name], [name]Evie[/name], [name]Ever[/name], etc.)? I always like to try potential middles with nicknames too.

Some of the short nicknames like [name]Gwen[/name] make some of the really short middle names sound stunted. [name]Just[/name] something to consider!

Beautiful name choice!

I hadn’t even considered that. Good point, hrm. I don’t think we’ll be using [name]Gwen[/name] (at least not in early days - if she decides she likes it later, more power to her!), but we’ve kicked around [name]Evie[/name], [name]Vera[/name], and [name]Winnie[/name]. I’ll have to consider that.

[name]Love[/name] [name]Vera[/name] and [name]Winnie[/name]! [name]Vera[/name] [name]Jo[/name] sounds lovely!

My grandmother’s name was [name]Edwina[/name], I am thinking of using that as a middle in the future, with nickname [name]Winnie[/name].

I really love [name]Guinevere[/name] for our baby due in [name]August[/name]! [name]Just[/name] bumping this post up to see what you ended up with?
