Hubby and I are due in the spring and need a middle name for a boy. His name ( if he is indeed a boy!) will be [name]Leon[/name] ( pronounced [name]Lee[/name]-inn). It’s a family name and his nickname will be [name]Leo[/name]. I can’t seem to find a middle name that grabs me. Our daughter, [name]Ruby[/name] [name]Grace[/name], was very easy to name. This baby is much harder to name!
Here is what we have so far:
[name]Leon[/name] [name]Owen[/name]
Hubby’s middle name is [name]Owen[/name], FIL middle name is owen, great grandfather on hubby’s side is [name]Owen[/name]
[name]Leon[/name] [name]Douglas[/name]
[name]Douglas[/name] is Hubby’s name
[name]Leon[/name] [name]Gray[/name]
[name]Leon[/name] [name]Edwin[/name]
[name]Leon[/name] [name]Jude[/name]
[name]Leon[/name] [name]Timothy[/name] ( not a fan of this one)
[name]Leon[/name] [name]Thomas[/name] ( my brother’s name is [name]Thomas[/name], as is my dad’s)
I think [name]Leon[/name] [name]Douglas[/name] has an awesome sound. Something about how there’s strong emphasis on the first syllable in both of those names. It’s jazz musicianish. But it depends on your last name. To me, [name]Leon[/name] [name]Owen[/name] immediately makes me think of [name]Anna[/name] Leonowens, from The [name]King[/name] and I. Then again, it does roll off of [name]Leon[/name] nicely. The others aren’t my style.
Thanks!! Our last name is Sanborn. I wasn’t a fan of [name]Leon[/name] [name]Owen[/name] at first-- but it really rolls off the tongue and it is in my top 3 now!
With Sanborn, I think I like [name]Owen[/name] just slightly more. [name]Douglas[/name] does give the name bite, but the S in [name]Douglas[/name] trails into the S in Sanborn, while [name]Leon[/name] [name]Owen[/name] Sanborn has a pleasing symmetry - N,N,N.
I really like [name]Leon[/name]! I’ve known several [name]Leons[/name], I think it’s a great name. And [name]Ruby[/name] and [name]Leon[/name] are adorable together! I really like [name]Leon[/name] [name]Gray[/name] and [name]Leon[/name] [name]Jude[/name] from your combos. I also love [name]Leon[/name] [name]Thomas[/name], and I love the significance, but [name]Leon[/name] [name]Thomas[/name] is an actor’s name–I’m not sure how prominent, since I didn’t know until I clicked on the link for [name]Leon[/name]. But with [name]Thomas[/name]'s significance to you, I think [name]Leon[/name] [name]Thomas[/name] would be a great choice, and it goes so well with [name]Ruby[/name] [name]Grace[/name]. I think something like [name]Leon[/name] [name]Everett[/name] or [name]Leon[/name] [name]Edmund[/name] would be handsome, too, or [name]Leon[/name] [name]Theodore[/name]? [name]Leon[/name] [name]Sebastian[/name]? [name]Leon[/name] [name]August[/name]?
I like [name]Leon[/name] [name]Gray[/name] but I think you will have trouble getting people to prn [name]Leon[/name] the way you want and I’m thinking [name]Leon[/name] [name]Jude[/name] will sound better with your prn. I definitely like 1 syllable mn’s for you.
The initials are something to consider. [name]Leon[/name] [name]Douglas[/name] Sanborn would be LDS. Not a big deal, but it’s the acronym for the Church of Latter [name]Day[/name] Saints. That said, I like [name]Gray[/name] and [name]Owen[/name].
Not much I can do about other peoples prn. I have tried to get hubby to change the spelling- but he won’t. Since he would be named after family members, we wanted to keep the name the way it is. It’s actually a very common way of pronouncing it where we live. Thanks for the suggestions ! Keep them coming.
