We just found out that we will be having our third girl this summer. [name_f]My[/name_f] husband and I have decided on [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] as her first name, but we are having some trouble with the middle name.
[name_m]Both[/name_m] of our older DDs middle names are after their great-grandmothers ([name_f]Audrey[/name_f] & [name_f]Lucy[/name_f]). So I want this girl to have a meaningful middle name, as well.
Here are the current options/dilemmas:
-
We can’t really think of any other family members to honor…my mom is being considered ([name_u]June[/name_u]) but we don’t have a very healthy or close relationship so I’m not completely sold.
-
Another option was to use the name of someone we admire. Mother [name_f]Teresa[/name_f] came to mind, but I don’t love [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Teresa[/name_f]. I found out her birth name was the Albanian name Anjezë (other versions are [name_f]Agnes[/name_f], [name_f]Ines[/name_f], etc). But would this be reaching too much? (“You are named after Mother [name_f]Teresa[/name_f] whose birth name was Anjezë which is also [name_f]Agnes[/name_f]…”) Any Catholics able to weigh in on whether its considered sacrilegious to not use her saint name if we are honoring her?

I’ve also considered virtue names and bible names, but none seem to work very well. [name_f]Grace[/name_f] is too popular, [name_f]Mercy[/name_f]/[name_f]Mary[/name_f]/[name_f]Naomi[/name_f] are too rhyme-y, [name_f]Honor[/name_f] is out due to being a celeb name, not a fan of [name_f]Prudence[/name_f], [name_f]Esther[/name_f] or [name_f]Ruth[/name_f]…
Can anyone else offer new suggestions? We would like a name that honors a strong woman of faith.
