Middle Names for/Thoughts on Helen

I have always liked [name_f]Helen[/name_f]. It has a number of great namesakes both specific to me and in general (including Mt. St. [name_f]Helen[/name_f] and [name_f]Helen[/name_f] [name_u]Keller[/name_u], both of which I have a personal connection with - and [name_f]Helen[/name_f] of [name_m]Troy[/name_m] who isn’t a great namesake but has a great vibe - and I know of three book characters from favorites of mine, too!), plus its meaning is awesome, and I love its vintage vibe.

What are your thoughts on the name? Possibly with nickname [name_f]Nell[/name_f] or even [name_u]Lenny[/name_u].

And … middle names? I can’t think of any that work! ([name_f]My[/name_f] friend joked [name_f]Helen[/name_f] [name_m]Kellyn[/name_m]. :no_mouth: I’ll pass.)

I stray toward vintage/classic/feminine but still spunky names. I tend toward names that are feminine but still have really amazing strong female role model associations for me (or just in general) – [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], and [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] are my top 3 right now.

I love [name_f]Helen[/name_f]! I know most people here prefer [name_f]Helena[/name_f], which is also lovely. But something about how sturdy and traditional [name_f]Helen[/name_f] is with all its history gives it that extra magic to me. I love [name_f]Nell[/name_f] and [name_u]Lennie[/name_u] as nicknames, and also [name_f]Lainey[/name_f]!
By the way, I don’t think [name_f]Helen[/name_f] of [name_m]Troy[/name_m] is the worst association - she gets redeemed in Euripedes’ play [name_f]Helen[/name_f]!
I’d pick a long, feminine middle
[name_f]Helen[/name_f] [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Helen[/name_f] [name_f]Cecelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Helen[/name_f] [name_f]Isadora[/name_f]

Thank you, everyone! I agree that [name_f]Helen[/name_f] seems like it could benefit from a more whimsical middle name.

I love [name_f]Helen[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], [name_f]Helen[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] (maybe a bit too [name_m]Potter[/name_m], though), [name_f]Helen[/name_f] [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f], and [name_f]Helen[/name_f] [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] (do you hear the double end sound, though?). None of those are super whimsical (except [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] which may be a bit … much … a sort of a [name_f]Helen[/name_f] [name_f]Isolde[/name_f] or [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] [name_f]Isolde[/name_f] vibe :stuck_out_tongue: ), but still. Cute!

I’m also considering [name_f]Helen[/name_f] [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] because that would take care of some namesakes that would be offended by the lack of “[name_u]Lyn[/name_u]” in the middle name. (No, I won’t spell it Hellyn. :joy:)
