Okay so I’m about to have a lil boy in a couple of short weeks and still can’t figure out a name!!
His fathers last name is [name_m]Jones[/name_m], but he hasn’t been around at all for this pregnancy and regardless what he says he’s going to do I don’t see him being around much after my lil guy is born either.
If I give him his fathers name I chose [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] [name_m]Jones[/name_m] because I absolutely adore the name [name_m]Tobias[/name_m]([name_u]Toby[/name_u] for short) and [name_u]Lee[/name_u] is my middle name so at least he would have part of my name too.
However since his dad is the way he is I’m not sure I should give him his last name 
Mine is Heiting though and sucks to match a name to…
Is [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] Heiting too weird together??? And what would be a good middle name? If I give him my last name he doesn’t have to have my middle name but I can’t think of anything that goes together!!! Help!!

I wouldn’t bother with his surname.
If he doesn’t stick around when baba is born and grows up he’ll ask why he has a different surname to you.
But I think your surname goes so much better with [name_m]Tobias[/name_m]!
I would stick with your name. Then if when he’s older you get married you can double barrel his name as well as yours?
I’m sorry you’re in this situation.
When my son was born I was in a somewhat similar one, and I hyphenated his last name. Five years later, when his father had completely left the picture, [name_m]Kaleb[/name_m] asked to have his name changed to be only my last name, and at the same time we chose a second middle name together to add.
Regardless of what your son’s father chooses to do, you are going to be the constant in his life. I think you should either give him solely your last name, which sounds awesome with [name_m]Tobias[/name_m], or hyphenate it.

I’m usually all for kids getting their fathers names and women taking their husbands… But growing up with your mother, likely not your father and having a different last name than her… It will come up. People will call you mrs. [name_m]Jones[/name_m] and kids will ask where his dad is when they see the different last names, it will come up so much its just nice to share a name within your immediate family. If dad comes back on the picture and he ever wants he can always switch his last and middle later on and not loose a name.
I am sorry that you are having to deal with this. I would definitely use [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] Heiting and it is a very handsome name, not too much at all. I like the suggestion of @dinosaursroar and use [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] [name_m]Jones[/name_m] Heiting, making a very handsome name as well. [name_m]Even[/name_m] if your child’s father isn’t in the picture later, it would give your son a connection to him. Or you may wish to choose something else altogether. Some short middle name suggestions as I think that balances the full name…

I agree–I think [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] Heiting sounds much better! [name_m]How[/name_m] is the first syllable said? HAY, [name_f]HYE[/name_f], or HEE? Either way, I think [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] Heiting is great. My first idea was [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m], which I think is super handsome, but I think [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] is really nice, regardless.
