My husband and I are expecting our first on 5/13/13 and are so excited! However, one thing we’re having trouble agreeing on is naming this baby! I tend to like more classic, traditional, ‘old fashioned’ names but hubby despises most of my picks. We have come up with two that we agree on and love, but I still have a few reservations. They’re both slightly trendy so I think they need really classic middle names!
Girl- [name]Maisy[/name]
Boy- [name]Hudson[/name]
We much prefer the spelling [name]Maisy[/name] to the traditional [name]Maisie[/name] simply because we don’t want it to be mis-pronounced as “[name]Macy[/name].” It is such a ‘nicknamey’ name already that I think it needs to be paired with a beautiful, flowing mn.
We are looking for both middle and nickname suggestions! OR longer names that could be shortened to these! Please help!
Congratulations, and welcome to NB, peppersr! I’m impressed that you have already been able to agree to a girl AND boy name this early in the game. I totally feel you on not wanting your little [name]Maisy[/name]/ie being mispronounced as [name]Macy[/name], though I have to say that I think going with the “y” ending will probably lead to exactly that as it’s more similar. Regardless, I feel that it’s a fairly intuitive name and doubt you’ll have many problems
Based on other names you considered:
[name]Maisy[/name] [name]Coraline[/name]
[name]Maisy[/name] [name]Emmeline[/name]
* = my favorites
[name]Maisy[/name] [name]Amabel[/name]
[name]Maisy[/name] [name]Annabel[/name]
[name]Maisy[/name] [name]Beatrice[/name] (grounding)
[name]Maisy[/name] [name]Beatrix[/name] (classic, but ups the spunk factor)
[name]Maisy[/name] [name]Caroline[/name]
[name]Maisy[/name] [name]Catherine[/name]*
[name]Maisy[/name] [name]Clarabel[/name]
[name]Maisy[/name] [name]Eleanor[/name]
[name]Maisy[/name] [name]Helena[/name] (I’d pronounce it HEL-eh-nuh in this case)
[name]Maisy[/name] [name]Josephine[/name]
[name]Maisy[/name] [name]Marigold[/name]*
[name]Maisy[/name] [name]Mirabelle[/name]/[name]Mirabella[/name] (I like alliteration, particularly with the “M” sound)
