Middle or last name?

If you saw the name [name_f]Rose[/name_f] would you see it as middle name or Last name

I’m kind of confused by the question. If there was a picture of a person with the word “[name_f]Rose[/name_f]” next to it or if someone was referred to as [name_f]Rose[/name_f], I’d assume it was a first name. If someone was called [name_u]Abby[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] or [name_f]Sofia[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f], I’d assume it was a double barreled first name or a first and middle. But again, not sure if this is what you mean.

I wouldn’t ever assume [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is a last name.

I know a couple of people with the surname [name_f]Rose[/name_f], so I can see it as a surname but I’m not sure I would assume it was one? I know a [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and because I know [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is her surname it makes sense to me and I don’t read it as first and middle (her middle is [name_f]Louisa[/name_f]). I think it would depend on context, if someone just introduced themselves as [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f], I might wonder, but I’m sure I’d find out over time. On a register etc. I would assume surname. If I was being introduced to a child as [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] then I would assume it was a double barrelled middle.

For a girl, I would assume middle name (eg. [name_f]Ella[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]). For a boy, I would assume last name, although that is probably just because I actually know brothers with [name_f]Rose[/name_f] as their ln!

I am not sure if this relevant to what you want an answer to either.
Our surname starts R0se with other letters added. Getting coffee would be the best bet. The server calls the name, looks at me standing waiting behind my husband with impatience because they are sure it’s my first name. I’ve never met anyone with this as a first name.
