[name_f]Lyra[/name_f]’s been a favourite of mine for years, but I still can’t seem to get the right middles for her. I’d really appreciate some help with quite specific criteria.
My first and foremost association is the His Dark Materials/[name_u]Golden[/name_u] Compass character, plus all the imagery that comes with her. On the one hand that’s great; I love a good character connection, but on the other, it’s difficult to come up with anything that perfectly fits such a strong image. If you’re familiar with the character, I’d pretty much like suggestions based off what you’d imagine her middle name to be.
If you’re not familiar with the character, this is my description of [name_f]Lyra[/name_f]. I see her as wild, curious, mischievous, and a bit of a troublemaker. She’s fiercely loyal, caring, and determined, but stubborn and quick tempered. She never says no to a challenge, and is 100% ready to put up a fight for what she believes in. I’d really like something to match that. Right now I have [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] [name_f]Andromeda[/name_f] Sif, and they have the feistiness, but they feel a tad too serious for her.
One or two middle suggestions are welcome!
All hypothetical, but I would be considering [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] for an actual child someday (not a character).
Your description brought to mind [name_u]Joan[/name_u] of [name_m]Arc[/name_m] and [name_f]Antigone[/name_f]. [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] was a defender of [name_u]Paris[/name_u].
My daughter’s name is [name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f], and it means “resolute protector.” I think the alternatantive ending, [name_f]Wilhelmine[/name_f], flows well with [name_f]Lyra[/name_f].
I feel like the name is already strongly tied to that character and your daughter will already be fully aware of the connection, so I would just go with a middle name you like.
On flow alone, I like Lyria [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] and [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] [name_f]Apolline[/name_f].
