Middles for Ceridwen and Hespera

I really need some help with middles for [name_f]Ceridwen[/name_f] and Hespera. I’m kind of stumped.

[name_f]Ceridwen[/name_f]: To me, [name_f]Ceridwen[/name_f] is magical, shimmery, delicate, graceful, pure, and strong. Kind of dreamy. The dominant feeling is wintery/snowy, and also a little woodsy. [name_m]Brisk[/name_m], cold air. I can see lanterns/lamp posts on a foggy, snowy night. I’d like the middle name to feel cool/chilly but maybe a little fiery, shimmery/sparkly, maybe starry/associated with the moon or nighttime, mystical, fairy-like or sprite-like, with shimmers/sparkles of maybe pink, purple, and/or blue, and maybe gold flakes. I also wouldn’t mind a woodsy, earthy feel.

Hespera: Hespera feels wintery/snowy too, but it also feels earthy. Magical. Warm sunlight, but cold brisk air. [name_f]Tiny[/name_f] orbs of light flying around in a clearing surrounded by trees and flowers on a cool night. Glittering pink, purple, and gold. Shimmering/twinkling white snow. Warm and welcoming, but secretive and evading. I’m all over the place, it’s hard for me to get a good grasp on Hespera. I’d like the middle name to feel cold/cool, relating to nighttime, mystical, maybe watery, shimmering pink, purple, and/or blue (my favorite colors!), glittering gold, more evading than welcoming (but either’s fine).

I’m changing my name from [name]Chelsea[/name], but have decided to keep it in the middle. The 2nd/other middle name will be [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u]. My mom didn’t put much thought into my name at all (I’ve asked), so I’m taking this whole process very seriously. Some middle names I like:

[name_f]Aurora[/name_f]/[name_f]Aurore[/name_f]
[name_f]Luna[/name_f]
[name_f]Selene[/name_f]/[name_f]Selena[/name_f]
[name_f]Olwen[/name_f]
[name_f]Oriel[/name_f]
[name_u]Winter[/name_u]
[name_f]Celeste[/name_f]
[name_f]Fiammetta[/name_f]
[name_f]Sunniva[/name_f]
[name_f]Elowen[/name_f]
[name_f]Melusine[/name_f]

Can anyone come up with any combos? Thanks in advance for any replies!

Oooooh, I love your imagery! I love both [name_f]Ceridwen[/name_f] and Hespera too!

Okay, I’m not great at this, at all, but looking at your list the first thing that popped into my mind was – Hespera [name_f]Selene[/name_f].

It has that cool, magical, mystical, evading, moonlit night vibe that you are looking for. To me it also has shimmers of pink and purple (they’re my fave colors too!), and glittering gold. [name_f]Selene[/name_f] also makes me think of a mystical, cold, blue, sparkling crystal cave. With gold flecks sparkling and shimmering all around. I love it! What a magical combo.

I love this combo, and I just had to comment about it! I would try to think of more, but I’m not very good at it (lol) and I have to go. Good luck!

I love [name_f]Ceridwen[/name_f], [name_f]Elowen[/name_f], and [name_f]Xanthe[/name_f]

I think I might have mentioned this before, but my daughter’s name is Cerridwen [name_f]Willow[/name_f]. Of your names listed, I like [name_f]Ceridwen[/name_f] [name_u]Winter[/name_u] (I might have a thing for [name_f]Ceridwen[/name_f] with a “W” middle though) , and Hespera [name_f]Olwen[/name_f] or [name_f]Elowen[/name_f]. My taste doesn’t allow for [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u] as a middle name for either [name_f]Ceridwen[/name_f] or Hespera, but a nice mn for it would be [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u] [name_f]Selene[/name_f] or [name_f]Selena[/name_f] (assuming you are pronouncing is Chel-see…I’ve only known one girl named [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u] spelled like that and that’s how she pronounced it). Good [name_m]Luck[/name_m]! When are you due? I’ve never met anyone who has used [name_f]Ceridwen[/name_f] other than us.

amira: Thanks! I love your imagery too! Hepsera [name_f]Selene[/name_f] is beautiful! I usually prefer [name_f]Selena[/name_f] to [name_f]Selene[/name_f], but your imagery totally sold me on it! I could so picture that blue crystal cave with the gold flecks! Thank you!

southernbeauty: Thanks! [name_f]Glad[/name_f] you love them, I’ve decided to take [name_f]Xanthe[/name_f] and all “ee” ending names off of the middle name list though.

eriset: I love [name_f]Willow[/name_f] and I think [name_f]Ceridwen[/name_f] [name_f]Willow[/name_f] would be lovely! I’ll put it on my list. I [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] [name_u]Winter[/name_u], but I don’t think the “wen” in [name_f]Ceridwen[/name_f], and the “win” in [name_u]Winter[/name_u] will sound too great together. I really love Hespera [name_f]Olwen[/name_f] too, but I don’t know if I’m in love with the vibe I get from them together. I have to think it over. (I was thinking maybe saving [name_f]Olwen[/name_f] as a possible middle name for [name_f]Lavender[/name_f].) Hespera [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] is very nice, but I don’t know if I’m in love with it. I’ll put it on my list though! [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u] isn’t in my taste either, but I’m changing my name from [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u], and I’ve decided to keep it in the middle. I’m 19 (turning 20 on Friday!), so no babies for at least a good 9 or 10 years! The other middle name I choose will be the main one I use though.
In reply to my other thread: I would expect people to not know much about it, to have to correct pronunciation and spelling, and to have to explain it’s origin and meaning to people. I think it’s totally worth it though! [name_f]Ceridwen[/name_f] is beautiful! I’d prefer to have a name with meaning. [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u] (for example) feels empty (to me at least) and is completely overlooked. Like I said before, I love your kids’ names! You have great taste.

Have you heard of the name Maiwen/Maiwenn? Hespera Maiwenn [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u] is gorgeous.

[name_f]Ceridwen[/name_f] [name_f]Aurore[/name_f] [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u], [name_f]Ceridwen[/name_f] [name_f]Luna[/name_f] [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u], [name_f]Ceridwen[/name_f] [name_f]Selena[/name_f] [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u], [name_f]Ceridwen[/name_f] [name_f]Celeste[/name_f] [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u], [name_f]Ceridwen[/name_f] [name_f]Fiammetta[/name_f] [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u], [name_f]Ceridwen[/name_f] [name_f]Sunniva[/name_f] [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u], [name_f]Ceridwen[/name_f] [name_f]Melusine[/name_f] [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u]

Hespera [name_f]Selene[/name_f] [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u], Hespera [name_f]Olwen[/name_f] [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u], Hespera [name_f]Xanthe[/name_f] [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u], Hespera [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u], Hespera [name_f]Melusine[/name_f] [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u], Hespera [name_f]Celeste[/name_f] [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u], Hespera [name_f]Oriel[/name_f] [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u], Hespera [name_u]Winter[/name_u] [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u], Hespera [name_f]Fiammetta[/name_f] [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u]

I really like Hespera [name_f]Melusine[/name_f] or Hespera [name_u]Winter[/name_u].

bibliophile: No, I’ve never heard of Maiwen. What’s it’s origin and meaning? Is it “may-wen” or “my-wen”?

I really like [name_f]Aurore[/name_f], [name_f]Luna[/name_f], and [name_f]Fiammetta[/name_f] (would it be too much?) paired with [name_f]Ceridwen[/name_f]! I prefer [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] to [name_f]Aurore[/name_f] though. [name_m]How[/name_m] does [name_f]Ceridwen[/name_f] [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] ([name_u]Chelsea[/name_u]) sound? It’s so hard to work with [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u] in the middle!

I’m still loving Hespera [name_f]Selene[/name_f]! It doesn’t sound the best with [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u] though. (That’s not a priority, but still.) Hespera [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u] [name_f]Selene[/name_f] would sound a little better, but I would prefer for [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u] to be in the second mn slot. I’m thinking Hespera [name_f]Olwen[/name_f] and Hespera [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] over. [name_f]Xanthe[/name_f]'s off the list now, it clashes too much with [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u] in my opinion. I like Hespera [name_f]Melusine[/name_f] ([name_u]Chelsea[/name_u])! I like Hespera [name_f]Fiammetta[/name_f] ([name_u]Chelsea[/name_u]) too, but again, would it be too much? [name_u]Winter[/name_u] was one of the first middle names that popped into my mind for Hespera. Something about it just sounds too… harsh, or something though. Idk why, [name_u]Winter[/name_u] isn’t a harsh sounding name to me at all.

kashed22: I like Hespera [name_f]Melusine[/name_f] too!

*I might have asked this somewhere before, but how exactly is [name_f]Melusine[/name_f] pronounced? I love it’s watery, mermaid feel, but I’m not 100% sure of it’s pronunciation.

For now I’m thinking over:

Hespera [name_f]Selene[/name_f]
Hespera [name_f]Melusine[/name_f]
Hespera [name_f]Olwen[/name_f]
Hespera [name_f]Elowen[/name_f]
Hespera [name_f]Fiammetta[/name_f]

[name_f]Ceridwen[/name_f] [name_f]Aurore[/name_f]/[name_f]Aurora[/name_f]
[name_f]Ceridwen[/name_f] [name_f]Luna[/name_f]
[name_f]Ceridwen[/name_f] [name_f]Fiammetta[/name_f]
[name_f]Ceridwen[/name_f] [name_f]Willow[/name_f]

Maiwenn/Maiwen is a Hebrew name that means “one who raises up/brings up.” It’s mildly popular in [name_f]France[/name_f], what with actress Maiwenn le Besco. I’ve heard both pronunciations: in [name_f]England[/name_f]/USA, it’s mostly may-wen, but in [name_m]French[/name_m] it sounds like mah-ee-wen, the first two syllables sort of meshed together.
[name_f]Ceridwen[/name_f] [name_f]Fiammetta[/name_f] sounds fine, but there’s a definite clash of cultures/etymology there. [name_f]Ceridwen[/name_f] [name_f]Fia[/name_f] might be a little less in your face.
I’ve heard [name_f]Melusine[/name_f] pronounced as mel-oo-zeen and mel-oo-seen.

I really love Hespera [name_u]Winter[/name_u]! [name_f]Ceridwen[/name_f] [name_f]Auriel[/name_f]/[name_f]Oriel[/name_f]/[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f]/[name_f]Orelia[/name_f] are beautiful; I think [name_f]Ceridwen[/name_f] [name_f]Willow[/name_f] has too man Ws close together in it and makes it awkward to say out loud.

Hespera [name_u]Winter[/name_u], “[name_f]Evening[/name_f] winter star”.

[name_f]Ceridwen[/name_f] [name_f]Auriel[/name_f], “[name_u]Golden[/name_u], beautiful poem”.

If you can’t decide, you could always do Hespera [name_f]Ceridwen[/name_f] or [name_f]Ceridwen[/name_f] Hespera! “Poetic as the evening star” would be a lovely meaning.

[name_m]Both[/name_m] [name_f]Ceridwen[/name_f] and Hespera are lovely. I really like Hespera [name_f]Melusine[/name_f] and [name_f]Ceridwen[/name_f] [name_f]Willow[/name_f] from your list.
I’ll do a few combos and add some names from your signature, I hope you don’t mind.
Hespera ([name_u]Chelsea[/name_u]) [name_u]Winter[/name_u]
Hespera [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] ([name_u]Chelsea[/name_u])
Hespera ([name_u]Chelsea[/name_u]) [name_f]Isolde[/name_f]
[name_f]Ceridwen[/name_f] [name_f]Lavender[/name_f] ([name_u]Chelsea[/name_u])
[name_f]Ceridwen[/name_f] [name_f]Maple[/name_f] ([name_u]Chelsea[/name_u])
[name_f]Ceridwen[/name_f] [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] ([name_u]Chelsea[/name_u])

[name_f]Ceridwen[/name_f] [name_f]Fiammetta[/name_f] [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u]
[name_f]Ceridwen[/name_f] [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u] [name_f]Melusine[/name_f]
[name_f]Ceridwen[/name_f] [name_u]Winter[/name_u] [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u]
[name_f]Ceridwen[/name_f] [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u] [name_f]Aurora[/name_f]
[name_f]Ceridwen[/name_f] [name_f]Sunniva[/name_f] [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u]

Hespera [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u]
Hespera [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u] [name_f]Luna[/name_f]
Hespera [name_f]Celeste[/name_f] [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u]
Hespera [name_f]Oriel[/name_f] [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u]
Hespera [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u] [name_f]Selene[/name_f]

bibliophile: Okay, thanks!

liviajoan: I’d really love [name_u]Winter[/name_u], and I’d love to include it if could. “[name_f]Evening[/name_f] winter star” is beautiful! You’ve convinced me! I’ll put Hespera [name_u]Winter[/name_u] on the list! [name_f]Ceridwen[/name_f] [name_f]Oriel[/name_f] would be pretty! Idk if it’s “the one” though. I have to think it over. Thanks!

handsallover: Hespera [name_u]Winter[/name_u] is now on the list! [name_m]Both[/name_m] [name_f]Ceridwen[/name_f] [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] and [name_f]Ceridwen[/name_f] [name_f]Maple[/name_f] are nice, bit I just don’t know if they’re “the one”. But thank you!

sorceress: [name_f]Ceridwen[/name_f] [name_f]Sunniva[/name_f] is nice! Hespera [name_f]Selene[/name_f] is on the list.

*I don’t know what it is about [name_f]Ceridwen[/name_f], but no middle names are really… clicking. So far my favorite is [name_f]Ceridwen[/name_f] [name_f]Sunniva[/name_f]. I love [name_f]Aurora[/name_f], but I think [name_f]Ceridwen[/name_f] [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] might be a little too much of a mouthful. I also like [name_f]Ceridwen[/name_f] [name_f]Luna[/name_f]/[name_f]Lumina[/name_f] and [name_f]Ceridwen[/name_f] [name_f]Alcyone[/name_f]. Idk, I’m stumped.

Right now my favorite Hespera combos are Hespera [name_f]Selene[/name_f] and Hespera [name_u]Winter[/name_u]. Still feeling them out though.

I have [name_f]Maple[/name_f] [name_f]Aurora[/name_f]/[name_u]Winter[/name_u] and [name_f]Lavender[/name_f] [name_f]Olwen[/name_f](70% sure) figured out. These are a little more difficult. I think I’m going to take a little break from [name_f]Ceridwen[/name_f] and Hespera. Thank you to everyone who’s helped!
