Middles for Eliza??

We’ve settled on a first name for our baby girl, [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], and we love everything about it. From the spunky, sharp syllables that make it feel modern to the vintage charm, we feel like it’s perfect for us!

Middles are another story… I’m a fan of the monosyllabic and clean sounding middle names to pair with [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], and bonus points if we can find some meaning in it. Right now I’m loving [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] to honor my sister [name_f]Katlyn[/name_f], but my husband is more of a fan of [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] that can would his mother [name_u]Joan[/name_u]. To me, [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] is too close to [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f], which I feel may be too common.

Any opinions or ideas? Would love to hear more single syllable options or double syllable middles that make you go “wow!”

I really like [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] or [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] (actually, I think I prefer [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]Joan[/name_u]) and I wonder if better to stick to a family honour name, but how about:

I like [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] and [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u], but I agree with pp I’d rather use [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]Joan[/name_u]. Therefore, [name_f]Kate[/name_f] gets my vote. I don’t know that [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] is all that common, so I would consider that a nonissue. I REALLY like [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Katherine[/name_f], which can still honor your sister.

[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] *
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Jade[/name_f]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Paige[/name_f]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]Brook[/name_u]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]Ray[/name_u]

Really liking [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] and [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Belle[/name_f]. She will be breaking a 75 year all-male streak so I think honoring the last female, [name_f]Mabel[/name_f], might be neat. Could either of those honor [name_f]Mabel[/name_f]?

Lately I’ve been a big fan of [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Snow[/name_f]. [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] and [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] are both lovely, though! Personally, I’m super keen on [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] and don’t find it boring at all—I’d pick it over [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u], especially since [name_f]Jane[/name_f] and [name_u]Joan[/name_u] are related etymologically.

[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]Kit[/name_u] ([name_u]LOVE[/name_u] this! Could also honor your sister as [name_u]Kit[/name_u] or [name_f]Kitty[/name_f] are used as nns for [name_f]Kate[/name_f] names, too…)

Good luck!

I really like [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f].

But also like [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f].

[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f]/[name_f]Fawn[/name_f]

I really like [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f].

[name_u]Love[/name_u] that you’re using [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] as a first, it’s one of my faves but is often only seen in the middle!

A name which is a combination of both might be a compromise? Keeping the J from [name_f]MIL[/name_f] and the [name_u]Lyn[/name_u] or Y from your sister:

[name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f] / [name_f]Joslyn[/name_f]
Jolyn / Joleane
[name_f]Jolie[/name_f] / [name_f]Joely[/name_f] (meaning ‘pretty’)
[name_u]Joyce[/name_u] / [name_f]Joy[/name_f]

[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] is lovely and is a great honor name for [name_f]Mabel[/name_f].

If you fancied going all out, there is a Scandinavian name with a J, K and M to honor all!! [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Majken[/name_f] - it will definitely take a while to find someone with the same name!

But in all honesty I love:

[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Joely[/name_f] (mainly for it’s meaning but also because it looks cute!)

I really love [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]. You would honor [name_u]Joan[/name_u], get a multiple syllable middle, and the great nickname [name_u]Jo[/name_u]/[name_u]Josie[/name_u]!

I think most or all of my suggestions have been mentioned already, but here are votes for:

[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Jeanne[/name_f]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]Jo[/name_u]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]Ren[/name_u]ée
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] Jehane (medieval version of [name_f]Jane[/name_f]…Zheh-HAHN)
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Fay[/name_f]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Catrine[/name_f]

[name_f]Mabel[/name_f] means lovable, so I looked up names that mean lovable/love & wondered if these might work:

[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] Amorette
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Carys[/name_f]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Amabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Amy[/name_f]/[name_f]Aimee[/name_f]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Amadea[/name_f]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Kalila[/name_f]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Miren[/name_f]

Good luck!
