Might have the names?

Y’all I’ve been putting off scheduling the appointment to stop my birth control because I wanted to be excited for another child (I know I want another one I just know I don’t have the best experience while pregnant and postpartum so it’s hard to look forward to that) and part of that for me is imagining a name on a child. Plus I don’t want to name another child while stressed and miserable. But I’ve scheduled the appointment because I think I’ve found the names for either gender.

[name_f]My[/name_f] first born is named [name_u]Arthur[/name_u] [name_u]Robert[/name_u] A***n (maiden name), his name consisting mostly of family names and [name_u]Arthur[/name_u] was picked by his father because I did and do like it but I was too unwell to really have a strong opinion or fight for the names I liked more. So alas more of a need to be decided beforehand.

If we’re blessed with a daughter, my beloved grandmother and I picked [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] [name_u]Blythe[/name_u] [name_f]Renee[/name_f].

If we’re blessed with another son, I’m leaning towards [name_m]Lucian[/name_m] [name_m]Cole[/name_m] [name_u]Daniel[/name_u] but also considering [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] [name_u]Daniel[/name_u] because it’s more likely to be pronounced right (we’re American and pronounce [name_m]Lucian[/name_m] Loo-shen) but it between those two now that my husband has actually claimed them as his favorites from my list.

Thoughts on [name_m]Lucian[/name_m] vs. [name_m]Frederick[/name_m]?

What a tough choice!

[name_m]Frederick[/name_m] [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] [name_u]Daniel[/name_u] is solid, classic and charming - it’s got great nickname potential, flows well and it does have the advantage that it has one most common pronunciation where you are.

[name_m]Lucian[/name_m] [name_m]Cole[/name_m] [name_u]Daniel[/name_u] is regal, slightly unexpected and distinctive. I pronounce [name_m]Lucian[/name_m] as you to, but I have heard loo-see-un more? Still, I think ultimately, this is my favourite - it’s lovely

[name_m]Frederick[/name_m] - [name_u]Arthur[/name_u] and [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] are a strong and a consistent pairing, [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] is debonair and [name_u]Freddie[/name_u] is charming. The [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] [name_u]Daniel[/name_u] middle did make me think of [name_u]Daniel[/name_u] [name_u]Day[/name_u] [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] but that’s neither here nor there.

[name_m]Lucian[/name_m] - I would myself assume [name_m]Lucian[/name_m] was the Italian Loo-shen and [name_m]Lucien[/name_m] (with E) was the [name_u]French[/name_u] Loo-see-en. But I would think most will first say the Loo-see-en version for [name_m]Lucian[/name_m] when they see it (so correcting required while not for Frederick). I like the Italian pronunciation better - it has a stronger and more intriguing sound. It’s also a nice double syllable like [name_u]Arthur[/name_u]. Part of me wants [name_m]Cole[/name_m] in the third spot for flow but mostly depends on last name.

I think they’re both wonderful names. As above, I’m drawn to [name_m]Lucian[/name_m] more but [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] is a handsome choice so if you backed out of [name_m]Lucian[/name_m], it would be a more than solid sub!

Your top two contenders are difficult to choose between! I really like [name_m]Lucien[/name_m] [name_m]Cole[/name_m] [name_u]Daniel[/name_u]. [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] [name_u]Daniel[/name_u] is very handsome. I slightly prefer [name_m]Lucien[/name_m] as a brother to [name_u]Arthur[/name_u] (I think this is because [name_u]Arthur[/name_u] & [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] have 4 strong R sounds between them, which is quite a lot) so [name_m]Lucien[/name_m] gets my endorsement.

P.S: I adore [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] [name_u]Blythe[/name_u] [name_f]Renee[/name_f] :face_holding_back_tears:

Last name is similar to [name_u]Hutton[/name_u]

Sounds like it’s in the better order then with what you have!

The 4 strong R sounds is another reason I prefer [name_m]Lucian[/name_m], especially with [name_u]Arthur[/name_u] [name_u]Robert[/name_u], kinda need less R to balance haha my husband told me I was the only person that’s notice that lol

[name_m]Frederick[/name_m] is perfect with brother [name_u]Arthur[/name_u], and maybe someday a sister [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f]. [name_u]Love[/name_u] it!

I [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_m]Frederick[/name_m]. I would have pronounced [name_m]Lucian[/name_m] as Lew-see-an but I’m [name_f]English[/name_f] so that should be considered.

I like [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] [name_u]Daniel[/name_u] more! I read [name_m]Lucian[/name_m] as lou-see-an so I think you would get some mispronunciation and spelling depending on where you live. [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] is a strong name with a lot of great nickname potential.

best of luck TTC and postpartum! I had a really rough time too. It’s not easy for sure!

i loveee dorothy blythe renee :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

but for lucian cole daniel, you’re right about the pronunciation, frederick is more likely to be easier to say because when i first read lucian, i read it as loo-cee-in because loo-shen sounds like lotion lol. may i suggest lucius? it’s said (loo-shiss) good luck!!

Please [name_m]Lucian[/name_m] :sob: it’s so beautiful and handsome.
