Mila pronounced as My-la?

Or would you assume [name]Mila[/name] is pronounced mee-lah? I like the spelling [name]Mila[/name] and the prounciation of My-la…do you like this name?

[name]Mila[/name] is pronounced Mee-la. If you want it prn My-la, I would spell it [name]Myla[/name].

Mee-la.

I know it’s supposed to be me-la, but I always want to say [name]Myla[/name] when I see this name. I think it’s beautiful either way, really. I agree with you though, I like the [name]Myla[/name] sound, but I wouldn’t want to spell it [name]Myla[/name]. Hmm, it’s a conundrum.

I agree! [name_f]Mila[/name_f] should rhyme with [name_f]Lila[/name_f], not [name_f]Sheila[/name_f]! [name_f]Mela[/name_f] is how I’d spell “mee-la”.

I have only ever heard it as Mee-la. It’s a Slavic name, and “i” makes an “ee” sound in that language family. If you want the [name_f]My[/name_f]-lah pronunciation, I would suggest using another spelling.

I’ve only ever heard mee-lah, and because it’s quite trendy right now (and thanks to [name_f]Mila[/name_f] Kunis too) it would probably be hard to get people to say it any other way.

It looks like [name_f]My[/name_f]-la to me, but I know it’s supposed to be pronounced mee-lah. I would like to use the name, but I don’t like the spelling. I want to name one of my future daughters “mee-lah” and I would spell it [name_f]Meila[/name_f]. If you want to use the name “my-la” then I’d suggest spelling it [name_f]Mila[/name_f] if you don’t like it with a “Y” in there. People with pronounce it wrong a lot probably, but that happens with most names nowadays so go for it!
