i have been crushing on milena today! like if i were to have a daughter right now she would have to be milena! this is funny to me, as i usually much prefer shorter names (3-5 letters) but milena just seems so sweet to me!
however, melena is blood in the stool this kind of puts me off the name. i like it but that relationship between the two is a bit off putting.
what do you think of it? do you like the name or just find it strange? what middle names would you put with it?
I love [name_f]Milena[/name_f], she’s so gorgeous! Stylish and unique but familiar and approachable, with the loveliest nicknames. I know a [name_f]Milena[/name_f] and she wore it well without any difficulties.
[name_f]Milena[/name_f] is lovely - elegant but cheerful! I’ve met one, and I wouldn’t have thought of the word (it’s not one I hear in everyday conversation, so I guess it just depends if you or your family are in medicine?)
I’ve been friends with a [name_f]Milena[/name_f] (mih-LAY-nuh) for a decade, and I’ve always loved her name! I think it’s easily wearable and utterly lovely. She’ll correct people on pronunciation, but once people get it it isn’t tricky to recall.
It’s one of my favorites for the meaning! I had no idea about that negative association. I pronounce it Mih-LAY-nuh and it’s beautiful to me, I considered it for my first daughter!
i love it!! i think it’s so sweet and classy. melena doesn’t come to mind for me. the milena i know pronounces it mee-LEHN-uh, so that’s how i’d say it instinctively
[name_f]Milena[/name_f] is pretty! She’s not one of my favorites, but I do find her appealing. The similar feeling Eastern European-y [name_f]Mira[/name_f] is more my style; [name_f]Mila[/name_f] never did much for me, but I do think the sound of [name_f]Milena[/name_f] is lilting and beautiful. I adore [name_f]Mira[/name_f], though - she has been a favorite for a very long time!
I honestly forgot about the melena thing; my understanding is that they are said different? mih-LAY-nah vs. meh-LEE-nah? But I’m not in the medical field and I could be wrong. [name_f]Milena[/name_f] has grown much more popular in the past decade, though, and I think it has less associations with the medical term, but again… I suppose I could be wrong. I’ve seen it enough on these name forums for years that the association has faded for me, but it may still be strong in the real world.
I like [name_f]Milena[/name_f]. It’s beautiful and has a sophisticated vibe. It’s a fairly common/popular name in parts of Europe and Latin [name_u]America[/name_u]. The medical term doesn’t seem to be in common usage and it has a different spelling and pronunciation anyway, from what I can tell.
