Miller

What do you guys think of the name [name_m]Miller[/name_m] for a girl? I’m obsessed with it lately and I think the nickname [name_f]Millie[/name_f] is adorable! I’m looking for honest opinions.

Other names on our list are:
[name_u]Hadley[/name_u]
[name_u]Piper[/name_u]
[name_u]Harper[/name_u]
[name_u]Emery[/name_u]

Thanks!

I love it on a boy, but on a girl… not sure. It’s okay, I guess, but I’m not a fan. I’d go with [name_f]Millicent[/name_f] for the nickname [name_f]Millie[/name_f].

I like [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] nn [name_f]Millie[/name_f]. [name_m]Miller[/name_m] is [name_m]WAY[/name_m] too masculine for me. Sorry! I love [name_u]Piper[/name_u] and [name_u]Emery[/name_u], though.

[name_m]Miller[/name_m] is very masculine to me!

I love [name_f]Milla[/name_f] (pronounced MILL-ah) but [name_m]Miller[/name_m] isn’t my thing.

[name_u]Harper[/name_u] is lovely.

I personally do not care for [name_m]Miller[/name_m]. I am sorry. I have [name_u]Hadley[/name_u] and [name_u]Harper[/name_u] on my long list and have been debating about [name_u]Piper[/name_u]. I love [name_u]Emery[/name_u] (and [name_m]Emrys[/name_m]) but only for boys.

Some suggestions -

[name_u]Teagan[/name_u]
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u]
[name_f]Hattie[/name_f]
[name_u]Waverly[/name_u]
[name_u]Aspen[/name_u]
[name_f]Willow[/name_f]
[name_f]Harlow[/name_f]
[name_u]Ainsley[/name_u]
[name_u]Delaney[/name_u]
[name_u]Eden[/name_u]
[name_f]Cadence[/name_f]

First I think of the beer, then I think, what if the poor kid doesn’t want to be a miller…perhaps he’d rather be a baker or an acrobat. Definitely not a good fn, esp. for a girl.

I don’t think it works well for a girl … or boy … as a first name honestly. I do like some of the other options you have going though. I had [name_u]Harper[/name_u] on my list, and [name_f]Briar[/name_f], but didn’t fit with our last name.

sorry, but it is terrible, it is a last name and if it was a first, I could only think of it for a boy.
But I love,
[name_u]Hadley[/name_u]
[name_u]Piper[/name_u]
[name_u]Harper[/name_u]

I prefer [name_f]Mila[/name_f]/[name_f]Milla[/name_f], [name_m]Miller[/name_m] I like but for boys.

[name_m]Miller[/name_m] is all beer for me, but I could see it working for some people, I guess.

[name_m]Miller[/name_m] is a beer. Unless it’s a family name I would pass on it. I don’t quite comprehend the notion of choosing a masculine sounding first name for a girl and then turning into the cutesy nickname of [name_f]Millie[/name_f]. Doesn’t that kind of defeat the purpose of calling her a boyish name in the first place? From your list I like [name_u]Hadley[/name_u] and I would suggest [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u], [name_u]Hollis[/name_u], [name_u]Avery[/name_u] or [name_f]Eliette[/name_f].

[name_u]Emery[/name_u] [name_u]Harper[/name_u] would be a fantastic combo. I prefer [name_m]Miller[/name_m] on a boy.

As far as “boy names” or unisex names on girls, I really like [name_u]Kai[/name_u], [name_u]Finley[/name_u] with the nn [name_u]Flynn[/name_u], [name_u]Flynn[/name_u], [name_u]Micah[/name_u], [name_u]Michael[/name_u], and [name_u]Evan[/name_u] for girls.

Agreed. This is always what I think when I hear occupational surnames as first names. It’s like you’re slapping an assigned future on a child.

I like the tomboy feel of it on a girl, especially with the nickname [name_f]Millie[/name_f]. I say, go for it. I personally am a fan of occupational names like [name_u]Gardener[/name_u], [name_m]Commodore[/name_m], [name_f]Poet[/name_f] and [name_u]Scout[/name_u] (my daughter).
