Miller?

Right now I’m kind of crushing on ‘er’ ending names (Foster, Sawyer, Asher, Wilder etc.) And this one would have special significance if we were to use it but I’m worried it would be too tied to the alcoholic beverage which is really not my style.

What do you think is it usable? What are your first impressions/associations?

I really like [name_u]Miller[/name_u]! I’ve had it on my list for a while and never once thought about the beer brand.

I think it’s totally usable! I think of grain mills and it seems like a fresh occupation/surname name.

I’m not too familiar with the alcoholic beverage but I don’t drink often, and I don’t like beer, so maybe that’s why. [name_f]My[/name_f] first association is the job itself, someone who works at a mill. Then many different people with the last name [name_u]Miller[/name_u].
It definitely has a nice sound, but I personally wouldn’t use it. Unlike some other -er names it’s very common as a last name and not common as a first name so I just don’t see it as a name the way I do [name_u]Wilder[/name_u], [name_m]Foster[/name_m], [name_u]Asher[/name_u], etc. If I heard someone being called [name_u]Miller[/name_u] I would assume they were being called by their last name.

I used to know a girl named [name_u]Miller[/name_u]! I know you’re looking at it for a boy, but this is to say I’ve seen it on a real person and it seemed wearable. I like it, and I didn’t think about the alcohol til you pointed it out. I think more of the literal occupational meeting, and the cool surname feel.

I think it falls under the surname names so it’s usable, not my style I like [name_f]Millie[/name_f] better

Wow, the beer would never have occured to me. [name_u]Jameson[/name_u] or Hennessey, yes, but [name_u]Miller[/name_u], no.

I have a lovely friend whose last name is [name_u]Miller[/name_u] so I have a fondness, but I can’t say the name itself calls to me especially. But it doesn’t not call to me either.

Mills can be lovely old buildings so there is some charm to the name from that.

Not my style but I think it’s fine and perfectly acceptable. (I’ve never heard of the beer, but I’m not American so maybe that’s why.)

When I hear [name_u]Miller[/name_u] I think of milling and [name_u]Abby[/name_u] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] [name_u]Miller[/name_u]

It’s a cool name -gentle and masculine in an understated way

I like [name_u]Miller[/name_u]! I think it’s usable, it’s common enough as a surname that I don’t think that the beer association is very strong. [name_f]My[/name_f] first association would be people I know with the surname [name_u]Miller[/name_u].

My first association with [name_u]Miller[/name_u] would be the many people I know with it as a surname. I’ve never heard of the alcohol, but that could be a location-based thing. I think it has a cool yet down-to-earth sound and would make a lovely choice!

I know someone with a double name and the second name is Miller, so my first association is them. I think the name Miller works. Didn’t even think of the drink. To me, it just seems like a surname name. Totally usable, especially since it has meaning to you.

I really like the name. [name_f]My[/name_f] first thought would be ‘surname as first name’ or ‘occupational name’ and then maybe I might think of the beer.
If you’re worried about the beer association then one suggestion might be to change the spelling. I have [name_m]Millar[/name_m] as an alternative spelling on my long list. Then as least written down it wouldn’t be so tied to the beer.

I think more of the occupation initially but I can understand your concern. I think its fine probably. At worst in college he might have friends calling him [name_u]Miller[/name_u] time. [name_f]Do[/name_f] avoid Lager though.

Miller fits in really well with the surname trend. I think its useable and very handsome. I wouldn’t worry about the alcohol reference, I didn’t even think about it until it was mentioned. [name_u]Jameson[/name_u] is a whiskey and people name their kids that all the time.

Hi there! I attended college with a guy named [name_u]Miller[/name_u]. He deeply disliked his name, primarily for its association with beer. He got teased about his name quite often.
