I am such a sucker for -o ending names on girls (obviously!) I love [name_m]Leo[/name_m] and [name_u]Theo[/name_u] for girls, so [name_m]Milo[/name_m]… yes, why not?
I don’t like it quite as much as those other ones I’ve mentioned, purely because they do have some precedence as girls’ names/nicknames so [name_m]Milo[/name_m] feels much more solidly “boy” to me, but the sound is lovely.
I’d probably go with something longer and more gender-specific in the middle slot:
[name_m]Milo[/name_m] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_m]Milo[/name_m] [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]
[name_m]Milo[/name_m] [name_f]Juliette[/name_f]
[name_m]Milo[/name_m] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] (probably too much, but I’m also a sucker for alliteration!)
[name_m]Milo[/name_m] [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f]
[name_m]Milo[/name_m] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]
[name_m]Milo[/name_m] [name_f]Kerensa[/name_f]
[name_m]Milo[/name_m] [name_f]Lucienne[/name_f]
[name_m]Milo[/name_m] [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f]
Well it’s not my cup of tea exactly, but it could definitely work and I think it would be cool paired with a more feminine middle name
I’m all for names being unisex, but when a name is so much more popular for boys (224th US, 124th UK) I think it’d just be a burden for the girl carrying it. [name_f]Miley[/name_f] or [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] would be better options in my opinion.
If you were to go for [name_m]Milo[/name_m] I’d pick a longer, clearly feminine name.
[name_m]Milo[/name_m] is getting very popular for boys so upon seeing the name, it would be assumed she is a male (appointments, job interviews, etc.) and I agree with a pp that said it would be a burden for her. Giving her a feminine middle doesn’t help in day to day life as others would not know her middle name. Maybe [name_f]Mila[/name_f] as alternative?
It’s a no from me. While I am all for unisex names, [name_m]Milo[/name_m] is so heavily used for boys and not used for girls that like PP, it’d be a burden for a girl to wear. I wouldn’t want to be called [name_m]Milo[/name_m] and have everyone assume I am a male, so I wouldn’t want my child to endure that either. [name_f]Mila[/name_f] is a beautiful alternative, or even a name like [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u], [name_f]Miley[/name_f] or [name_f]Millicent[/name_f] and have her nickname be [name_m]Milo[/name_m].
This may sound harsh so feel free not to read it.
First, [name_m]Milo[/name_m] is just NMS, I think of it as a cat name due to that old movie “[name_m]Milo[/name_m] and [name_m]Otis[/name_m]”. Secondly, I am one of those people who is a little irked by the disparity in the amount of traditionally male names that suddenly start getting used for girls VS the much smaller amount of traditionally female names that start getting used for boys.
No. Definitely no.
I don’t personally like it for a girl. I agree with all of the reasons already listed by previous commenters.
I think other names like [name_f]Mila[/name_f], [name_f]Miley[/name_f], [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] are a nice alternative for a girl’s name though.
I like [name_f]Mila[/name_f] more. But I [name_m]Milo[/name_m] could work for a girl aswell
I voted yes. I’ve never met a male or female [name_m]Milo[/name_m] - had a boy cat called milo growing up .
I voted yes because I think it sounds quite feminine. I can see it suitting a girl.
I was skeptical st first but now I’m really loving it, but it kinda depends where you live.
Honestly, my first thought was wondering if you would be willing to use a name like [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] or [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] for your son then. It is not us that will be carrying the names we give our children. They have to live in the world with it. It could cause confusion and embarrassment for the person and those in their lives (teachers, doctors, potential employers, etc). For those that say to use a feminine middle for a girl or a masculine middle for a boy, most people do not know people’s middle names.
One of my GP loves for a girl is [name_u]Arlo[/name_u], so I would feel hypocritical saying that [name_m]Milo[/name_m] CAN’T work for a girl. I’m not a big fan of it though.
I get the appeal but for me it’s a no. Then again, as the owner of a male dog called Milo, it’s a bit of a no on humans as a whole, so you may want to discount my slightly biased opinion, ha!
I voted “No” mostly because I don’t want it to be seen as a girl’s name. I love softer names on boys and don’t like them all going to the girls.
That being said, I think it works for a girls name, i just wish that parents who chose to use it also consider something like [name_f]Jayne[/name_f] or [name_f]Rose[/name_f] for a boy
I do like [name_m]Milo[/name_m] for a girl, but be prepared for most people to think “boy” immediately upon hearing her name.
I love [name_m]Milo[/name_m] for a girl, it is actually my top name at the moment. Can’t really say exactly why I love it so much, never really been a fan of it for a boy, just randomly one day a light bulb came on and I started loving it for a little girl. I have [name_m]Milo[/name_m] [name_f]Yvette[/name_f] as my top but others that could work:
[name_m]Milo[/name_m] [name_f]Lucille[/name_f]
[name_m]Milo[/name_m] [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f]
[name_m]Milo[/name_m] [name_f]Lucinda[/name_f]
[name_m]Milo[/name_m] [name_f]Helena[/name_f]
[name_m]Milo[/name_m] [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]
Something feminine and sweet would work nicely.
I think it could definitely work as a girl name. [name_m]Milo[/name_m] is alot like [name_f]Margo/name_f or [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u], [name_f]IMO[/name_f].
No. Why? Because I’m sick of seeing boy names used on girls. There are so many actual girl names out there, I don’t see the need for it.
